Gee, how did poor people ever manage to vote before 1995?

Poor people have consistently been unable to vote for a variety of reasons, mostly due to rejection of their voter registration.

It's only been since portions of the Voting Rights Act expired that Republicans have become more overt in their voter suppression attempts. Prior to that, states had to submit changes to election law to a federal oversight commission to determine whether the changes complied with the VRA. Now that supervision has been lifted the Red States can't pass voter suppression legislation fast enough.
