I don't know a lot of parents who would do what he is doing. The DNC probably came to him and thought he is the perfect spokesperson to speak against Trump. He lost a son in war which is patriotic and more difficult to criticize. The motivations of those parents don't involve trying to get someone elected into office and they are not trying to manipulate the public into voting for Trump. They just want answers as to what went wrong which is a noble thing but Kahn is basically allowing himself and his dead son to be used for a politician's personal gain.
