Towing a jobs trailer to our next remodel and every time I went over a bridge the trailer slid sideways from the tiny bit of snow we got.
Was 2 hours late getting there and told the customer how treacherous the drive was. 2 hours later she got a call that her niece died in a car accident on the same highway.
At this point I feel really awkward and am a loss for the proper protocol on moving forward. I normally don't take a deposit until after the first full days work but now i would feel terrible asking for it. She texted tonight with the codes to her house as she's going to be gone awhile.
OMG....that's awful...I don't know know that there is a protocol

Glad you did not wreck.
It's crappy where I am....but I stayed home.
My theory is keep a few days supply of food and water in the house, wood for the fireplace or stove, battery operated small appliances/radio, candles, etc. In case of inclement weather. During the famous Columbus Day storm back in 1962, we were several days w/o electricity. We had a wood stove in the basement and my mom cooked on that for a week. If you are just snowed in or have had a big storm, you can stay warm, dry and cozy inside with the right supplies and a wood stove or fireplace. Way back then we had a coal furnace, so we weren't cold.
