On their permanent record, Trump, Pence, RNC, any spouses or offspring: Know far more about doing what is happening on the ground in Iraq: Then does the Pentagon and the advisers in Iraq. In fact, in the Obama Administration now leaving--there is in fact a nation-state with a viable military, called, "Iraq!" Bush-Cheney had left it a bunch of Shite tribes, out to plunder Sunni tribes. The capable bureaucracy of the Socialists Baathists was allowed no place in the government.

ISIL happened, now about to be tossed out of Iraq completely.

Iraqi forces fight ISIS on Mosul streets - CNN.com

According to Trump-Pence-RNC, this is bad for Putin: Which is the leader they are really all about!

"Crow, James Crow: Shaken, Not Stirred!"
(Geronimo! (Maybe not often so-stated at the time--when the only good Apache. . .had been given a really, really expensive funeral! Mainly nation-states actually do that(?)!)

Donald Trump called the plan stupid.

You need to add that context. Yes he did, specifically, talking about invading there for months before you do it

That IS stupid, just attack and then give a press conference AFTER you take the city, seems logical and most effective

But the problem with the OP is it makes it seem like he was against the idea of attacking Mosul which he wasnt

Good on the troops and the people of Mosul.

Bad on ISIS and bad on anyone who would support the opposite of bad on ISIS.

Here is a little bit of ugly truth for you, dear Americans:

Independent:
In the case of Mosul, unlike Aleppo, the defenders are to blame for endangering civilians by using them as human shields and preventing them leaving. In East Aleppo, fortunately, there are no human shields – though the UN says that half the civilian population wants to depart – but simply innocent victims of Russian savagery.
Compare the coverage of Mosul and East Aleppo and it reveals a lot
--
"Mosul is being bombed daily from B-52H American strategic bombers, F/A-18 bombers based on USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier and from Rafaele M base on the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle. In the past day alone, the coalition warplanes flied 25 sorties and delivered 21 air strikes on the city and its suburbs," .

Meanwhile, the Russian and Syrian warplanes "have performed no flights in Aleppo for more than two weeks,"

"In Mosul, by a strange coincidence, there are no journalists, activists or volunteers in ‘white’ or any other shade ‘helmets’. Nobody. That is why, all what American and European TV channels can allow to broadcast is cheerful censored reports about extraordinary successes of the coalition and future great victory over terrorists, not substantiated by real footage,"
Russian defense ministry says situation in Iraqi Mosul is nothing like in Syria's Aleppo
--
Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Stephen O'Brien - Statement on Iraq:

Stephen O’Brien: I am extremely concerned for the safety of up to 1.5 million people living in Mosul who may be impacted by military operations to retake the city from ISIL. Families are at extreme risk of being caught in cross-fire or targeted by snipers. Tens of thousands of Iraqi girls, boys, women and men may be under siege or held as human shields. Thousands may be forcibly expelled or trapped between the fighting lines. Children, women, the elderly and disabled will be particularly vulnerable.
Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Stephen O'Brien - Statement on Iraq, 16 October 2016 [EN/KU/AR]

Why are the Western "human rights defenders" so silent...

1. That would raise foreign speculation over troops movements in the country. It would put Iran on alert, which presents an external threat to operations in the region. Would you want to conduct a military operation with a severe X factor in play?

2. It would leave Iraqi civilians trapped in the conflict zone. If your city was taken over, wouldn't you want your government to release a public statement that it was going to start bombing?

3. The plan is designed to create a golden bridge for ISIS. That allows them to organize a retreat in strength, although it subsequently means the Allied forces can expect less resistance in the city. Would you rather fight guerrillas on open ground, or engage in a prolonged siege of a populated urban center?

4. It isn't up to the United States. It is the country of the Iraqis and Kurds, so they are responsible for drafting the final battle plan. Do you suggest the US intimidates them into silence and hijack several months of strategic planning?

I suggest we dont tell people about it. Read the Art of War, its 2000+ years old and tells you never to broadcast your plans. Its never a good idea, I dont think.troop movements in Iraq would concern Russia, they oppose ISIS too. As for Iran, who gives a fuck?
Didnt we just make a great treatyn2with them, they are not scared of us.

Oh, Sun Tzu's Art of War?

You do realize Sun Tzu is accredited for creating the golden bridge theory, right? The foundation of the Mosul battle plan is allowing ISIS a golden bridge, which would not exist if they were taken by surprise.

The last thing the Iraqi Security Forces want is to be bogged down in an exhausting siege. Just look at what happened with the Syrian Armed Forces in Aleppo.

As for Iran, who gives a fuck?
Didnt we just make a great treatyn2with them, they are not scared of us.
If the ISF or Kurds move troops or fly missions near the northern Iranian border without warning, it could provoke a military response. That would ruin the entire operation.

Trump has proposed essentially making the military a political tool. The hard and fast, set in stone, proposal is to fire the generals en masse. That too could easily set up a weakened U. S. Defense presence--perceived worldwide. Putin or the Filipino leader would have a treasure trove of U. S. policy smears to level, worldwide--about how incompetent the U. S. A. really is.

That is more the Trump-Pence-RNC supported legacy from Bush-Cheney-RNC. Bush-Cheney left Iraq an internecine tribal conflict. The Iraq emerging from the direct success of Obama-Biden-Clinton and Perry is a viable nation-state, and partner in the eradication of the Sunni-Based Islamic State concept.

Death to Obama mainly emerges from ISIS, Putin. . .and the "Deplorables" faction of RNC, so-labeled by the senior Trump campaign staff.

Grizz-low-on-reading-or-recall-skills-poster fails to note that Trump refuses to retain all the Generals in a Trump administration, creating the en masse exodus of all the admirals, all the generals, all of NORAD, all of NATO: A departure en masse. Even if that is over-stated--there being no detailed, outlined plan--Other posters note that the world is electronic, full of information leaks, and nuclear lethal. Without some announcement, about the activity, then all the activity could trigger a nuclear response. U. S. Military activities would not be at the "Band of Renegade Apache" levels.

Espionage experts worldwide would likely be putting all kinds of their allies on alert, for a response. Something like a Mosul attack could be misinterpreted, like Putin in Crimea and in other areas generally.

Starting at about Bull Run--lost twice--the Republicans generally find themselves unable to succeed in the field: Even with overwhelming power and logistical support.

Creating the lack of leadership: Belongs right up there with Abraham Lincoln!

Yawn.

When you are at war you can't worry about your enemy "misinterpretating" your intentions.

You make no sense. How about putting it into context with how many Bush purged. Do you know?
