All this nonsense about the “Experts” and “The Science”.

Rather that think, many people would rather simply link to “experts” or “follow the science”.

I blame our education system and the teachers and professors for doing a shitty job often intentionally. Young people are no longer taught to think.

If you thought about it at all, you’d realize that there are some significant problems with this.

First of all, science and scientists are fallible, they are human too. If you know history, you will know that sciencehas been wrongmore often than right. Scientists USED to believe that they learned just as much from being wrong as they did from being right.

Another problem is that science is for sale. Give a scientist a job and pay him well and he’ll give you science to say whatever you want. Did you know that the tobacco companies had teams of scientists on their side years ago who would claim that there was no link to health problems from smoking.

Another problem with trusting the science and scientists is that science has been politicized. It’s easy to do. Our institutions of “learning” are run by the left and if you want to keep a job and want to be taken seriously, you toe the line.

The biggest danger in letting someone else think for you is that you can easily be duped. Just trot out a well paid and politically connected “expert” and they can get you to believe anything they want you to.

that’s exactly the goal of education and politics today. Keeping people from thinking for themselves.
Say bub...

Why do you think it's advisable to wrap up all your hopes, dreams, ambitions, successes, beliefs, thoughts, and essentially very lives in one extremely flawed reality TV star w/a penchant for telling lies for no reason over everyone else in the world?

Because, this is LITERALLY what Trump supporters, are, and have been, doing.

Did I mention the President? No, I did not. This has to do with people here who argue without being able to think. Like you for instance.

I know my mechanic knows cars but when he tells me I need to spend several hundred or several thousand dollars for something I do more research. The same way people get second and third opinions when one doc tells them something that may not make sense or seem right. Its called having a brain and using it lemming, something you lefties never seem to be capable of. If the stats backed up what the talking heads were saying we might believe them.

You don't actually know what you're talking about. I would pay money to watch you try to debate any scientist on their field of expertise. Be sure to have somebody recording so your embarrassment can go viral on Youtube. If you read a scientific study that didn't have a synopsis you would not be able to explain to me what's being said.
Oh spare me, who is trying to debate anyone? If some "expert" wants to tell me first not to wear a mask then to wear one, I am going to look up several studies and articles and form my own opinion. When one says the leftyflu is the Black Plague I am going to look at all the actual statistics I can get my hands on....not media articles....and see for myself if they are lying or telling the truth. Pretty simple process....using your own brain to check out what you are being told. And in the case of the virus, the severity is much much lower than the propaganda states and that is easily verifiable.

It’s not hard to do. You do not have to be a genius to think for yourself.

People look to experts because they're not arrogant fuckwits that think they have the depth of knowledge, experience and context to contend with the views of people that do it for a living. Are you going to question the views of neurosurgeons on matters involving your brain? Most people are smart enough to listen to their fucking mechanic. The magnitude of arrogance and ignorance it takes to wave off the views of the most qualified people on Earth is staggering.

The important thing that appears to be lost to you is that you don’t have to be an arrogant fuckwit. It shouldn’t be beyond the average person, to think for themselves.

The Neurosurgeons that I have worked with, and there have been several, all consult with the patient and the patient’s families as to what should be the best treatment, and often times the patient makes decisions that are different from what the doctor wants to do.

Do you ALWAYS listen to a mechanic? You shouldn’t, you will get ripped off quite a bit. Thanks for mentioning that, it makes my point.

Thinking for yourself, you should try it.
Hmmm not sure you are educated enough to explain anything to Einstein Jr here.
I tried to make it simple.

I'm not going to put any more energy into explaining to you the depth of your ignorance compared to scientists in their own field of expertise. You were always going to find some way to rationalize your arrogant and ignorant behavior. I would laugh at you if I wasn't so disgusted that people like you actually manage to hinder science with your stupidity. Have a nice night you doorknob.
You lose, thanks for playing.

Its called dumbing down the public and they've made a proper job of that.

Intellectualism is what I’m asking for. Refusing to think for yourself is a trait of anti-intellectualism.

The America hating part of the public already seems plenty dumb.

Did someone call for the village idiot? Well here he is ^^^^^!

I do not have to be a doctor to know that coughing up blood is bad.

i do not have to be a biologist to knowhow animals reproduce.

I do not have to be an astrologist to knowwhat the sun and the moon are.

I do not have to be an epidemiologist to know not to cough on someone.

There are things that are observable and make good sense. Just because some expert tells me that the earth is flat, doesn’t mean I’m going to just accept it.

That's the whole point, you claim to be complaining about non-thinkers and lemmings, yet YOUR party is in full on cult-mode for Dearl Leader Donnie at this very moment.

Also, none of the talking head "experts" are responsible for making the decisions that affect citizens...so they yap and blather on and the decision maker has to take their info along with what they know and make decisions. So changing your mind every other day is useless to the responsible people.

No, that’s not the point, that’s YOUR point. If you want to spew your TDS, start a thread about it.

It's the Republican way!

It's surprisingly difficult to get through to some plumber or electrician why their views on complex scientific matters are worth approximately dick compared to scientists that know more than anybody else in the world. These boobs wouldn't even comprehend what's being said in the research.

What an arrogant little punk. You can wise up now, or life will beat it out of you over many years, kid. You've got a lot to learn.

For example:

I’ve been in healthcare for 38 years. Back in 83 when I started we followed the latest science whenever it developed. We were on the leading edge of our branch of medicine.

38 years later and we do things almost entirely different now. I look back and I’m shocked that patients did well at all. But it was what the science said at the time. Now I think we are doing the right things and we are again following the science. I’m pretty sure that people still working 38 years from now will be shocked to remember how we are doing things today.

Science is not infallible. Science has historically been wrong more often than right.

Thinking for yourself is a skill all can learn and should. Unfortunately, thinking is looked upon these days as deplorable. It is discouraged at every level of culture and education.

And definitely an American thing. That's how we got the "i know more about war than the generals" moron as a president.
