I have dealt and do deal, on a regular basis, with people who are always going on about The Lord. I have to bite my tongue, because you know what - I find it offensive. They never once assume that I am NOT a Christian, or that their neverending nattering on about how prayer changes things sounds both foolish and childish to me - as though whatever it is they are praying for would NEVER have an outcome one way or another. If they get what they want, then they're grateful to The Lord; if they don't get what they want, then they go on a tear about how The Lord "sometimes says "no" to us." What a load of codswallop! Then I think of all the times I hear things like "we'll pray for you." Pray for me? Don't bother! Call and talk to me for a while! Bake some brownies. Do something useful! They might as well wash my car for me - at least then there'd be something positive to show for it. Honestly!
Cold Fusion is absolutely correct on this one - the burden of proof is on the ones to believe to prove that god (a god, any god) exists, not for those who know better to try and prove themselves wrong. If I don't believe that bunny rabbits sneeze rainbows, I'm certainly not going out into the woods to chase them down to see whether or not it might happen. That would only be a foolish waste of time.
