Now that Trump is in, Israel will be permitted to defend itself against the terrorists who seek its destruction, and will not be threatened that America will withhold weapons if Israel doesn’t limit its defense.

Sad, isn’t it, that Biden threatens to withhold weapons from Israel while giving missiles and the go-ahead to Ukraine to launch into Russia?

I think we should help Ukraine, but I think it as a mistake to enable Ukraine to shoot missiles to Russia. During the Korean War President Truman did not allow the bombing of Communist China. He restricted the War to Korea. It was a mistake to let Gen. MacArthur try to conquer all of North Korea.

Gen. MacArthur's Inchon Landing was a work of genius. He attacked a point of critical importance to the enemy by surprise when the point was lightly defended.

After Inchon Walter Lippmann said MacArthur should conquer the southern half of North Korea and leave the northern half as a buffer zone between the U.S. Army and Communist China. The Chinese had legitimate security concerns. In 1931 Japan invaded Manchuria through Korea.

After Inchon Zhou Enlai told diplomatic circles in India, which had relations with the United States and Communist China, that China would not oppose the presence of South Korean troops in North Korea, but China would not allow American forces to reach the Yalu River.

MacArthur thought Zhou Enlai was bluffing. MacArthur was mistaken. When American troops reach the Yalu River, they were repulsed by Chinese forces, The war lasted for another three years. With nuclear weapons North Korea is more dangerous than in 1950. A more restrained response to North Korean aggression could have achieved a better result sooner.

Israel's war with Gaza can be won. Hammas and Hezbollah can be annihilated. The Palestinians can be deported. Ukraine' cannot defeat Russia. A compromise settlement will be necessary. This is not to say that there was any justification in Putin's invasion of Ukraine.
