Palestine Legal and NYCLU Sue Columbia University Over Student Group Suspension — Palestine Legal

The New York Civil Liberties Union and Palestine Legal filed a lawsuit today against Columbia University for the unlawful suspension of its chapters of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) for engaging in peaceful protest.

“Universities should be havens for robust debate, discussion, and learning — not sites of censorship where administrators, donors, and politicians squash political discourse they don’t approve of,” said Donna Lieberman, Executive Director of the New York Civil Liberties Union. “These student groups were peacefully speaking out on a critical global conflict, only to have Columbia University ignore their own longstanding, existing rules and abruptly suspend the organizations. That’s retaliatory, it’s targeted, and it flies in the face of the free speech principles that institutes of higher learning should be defending. Students protesting at private colleges still have the right to fair, equal treatment — and we are ready to fight that battle in court.”

All that fluff changed when Palestine became a state in 1924 and the Palestinians became the sovereigns in their defined territory as the UN has stated numerous times.

There is nothing in the Treaty of Lausanne that distributes any territory - or otherwise presents sovereignty to an Arab Entity within the limits of the territory (west of the Jordan River) in which the British Mandate applied.

African country's citizens fighting for Israel in Gaza will be arrested upon return, foreign minister says​

In December, the foreign ministry said that the government was concerned that some of its citizens or permanent residents had joined the IDF to fight in Gaza. They could face prosecution if they hadn’t been granted permission to do so under South Africa’s arms control laws, the ministry warned.

Those with dual South African-Israeli citizenship could be stripped of their South African citizenship, the foreign ministry said.
