So do tell us of the status of christianity in Egypt, for example, once a majority Christian nation.

Does not support your fiction of an alleged "Arab Empire."
Umayyads for example were larger on family members and ethnic Arabs than they were on Muslims and appointed many non-Muslims to important administrative positions. They didn't even used to allow non-Arabs into their military forces regardless of what faith they were.
It's comically tragic that you suggest Qutb "invented" a reformed version of islamist ideology.
He was one of the most prominent utilizes of Itjihad since the formal schools of thought closed the practice of Itjihad around the 14th century.
I'm not sure what is "tragic" about stating that, nor have you offered up any counter arguments for my stances other than personal attacks.
When exactly was Egypt ever a majority Christian nation?? ..So do tell us of the status of christianity in Egypt, for example, once a majority Christian nation.
What's tragic is your inability to reconcile the ideology of Qutb as anything other than a continuation of classical, militant islamist ideology.
So do tell us of the status of christianity in Egypt, for example, once a majority Christian nation.
Coptic Christians remained highly influential throughout the region's history even under Islamic rule, so I'm not sure how their community supports your point. The current sectarian tensions haven't been the historical trend for Egypt.
Tell us of the thriving Jewish populations in any single Moslem majority nation anywhere in the islamist Middle East.
There used to be many prior to the formation of Israel. Once again you ignore historical trends for the simplicity of current circumstance.

Coptic Christians are on the verge of disappearing from Egypt.
So, tell us of those thriving Jewish populations anywhere in the islamist Middle East.
Just google 'Iranian Jews' and your question will be answered Poindexter. ..So, tell us of those thriving Jewish populations anywhere in the islamist Middle East.
What's tragic is your inability to reconcile the ideology of Qutb as anything other than a continuation of classical, militant islamist ideology.
It wasn't a simple continuation of anything though. It's one reason why he became such a famous ideological head for Jihadists and such a big name in terrorism. They wouldn't have needed someone like him if it was simply a "continuation of Islam". In fact terrorist organizations wouldn't need ideological heads at all if what you are suggesting were true, yet they do need them otherwise Osama bin Laden would have been a nobody.

Qutb's and the Muslim Brotherhood's tactics of enforcing a brutish ideology through political assassination and intimidation mirrors classic Islamic tactics.
There's nothing "reformed" about the murder of Sadat and the murder of earlier caliphs.
The Umayyads were a family based Arab Empire and employed non-Muslims from their clan family in many senior posts.
Coptic Christians are on the verge of disappearing from Egypt.
So, tell us of those thriving Jewish populations anywhere in the islamist Middle East.
Once again, ignoring historical trends over the span of over a thousand years simply for the simplicity of current circumstance is dishonest. Judaism used to be the second largest religious group under Umayyad rule in Iraq for example.
The Umayyads don't support a pre-Islamic "Arab Empire," since they are an Islamic entity.![]()
I'm actually pointing out historical trends
I believe the area was more various types of pagan religion than either Christian or Jewish. ..When exactly was Egypt ever a majority Christian nation?? ..So do tell us of the status of christianity in Egypt, for example, once a majority Christian nation.![]()
To answer your question though it was largely Christian (as far as we can tell though many of our historical records come from Byzantine records which didn't recognize other religious groups) before the Arab invasion. A lot of North Africa was Christian and Jewish though, and the Arab Empire actually relied on them and their help in conquering both North Africa and Spain.

There's nothing "reformed" about the murder of Sadat and the murder of earlier caliphs.
Ignoring the split that Qutb's works created within the Brotherhood is also willfully dishonest. Is that really the only way that you can construct an argument?
