If you read the court documents as you say then you must be aware of the fact that the misdemeanor crime was elevated to a felony crime based on the proposition that he made a legal payment with a legal NDA and reported it in his business records. It was alleged to not just be a false entry but (to jack it up to a felony to avoid the untimeliness of the misdemeanor theory) Bragg claimed that it was done to commit a crime or conceal a crime.

Did he state which “other” alleged crime? No. He offered a multiple choice none of which hold water.

#2 Trump never paid Daniels for the NDA. Cohen made an illegal loan to the campaign and paid Daniels out of his own money for the NDA. An illegal campaign loan which resulted in his Federal Conviction.

#3 The elevation from misdeomenor wasn't because Trump paid Daniels (he didn't). The elevation was his laundering the money through his business to hide/aid in Cohen criminal actions. THAT is was resulted in it being a felony.

Because DOJ policy is to not prosecute a sitting President and the DOJ could not resolve the case prior to Trump taking the oath of office.

The case against Trump was dismissed because the DOJ requested it based on policy, not on merits.
