Agriculture secretary says there will be 'no amnesty' for migrants, adults on Medicaid can replace them in workforce

So there are a couple of problems here.

They have never really told us what "able bodies" is in their point of view.

And most of these folk on Medicaid who can work already do.

What's wrong a little fresh air and working in a field too hard?
Whether it's on a farm or construction it's all good.
Better than the boob tube or video games.
Working 20 hours a week get paid and a perk like Medicare and living in mom's basement.

In my teens I detassled corn, five days a week about 45 hours.

Made some spending cash and we had fun. My Dad used to pick me up at the bus drop off site and told me I was building a work ethic

yeah I can see the unemployed lining up to pick cotton or just stay home and collect that check.

And how many people really want to work on a farm which are usually in rural areas.

Yes in the US , machinery is the preferred method as you state.

But in other countries they are still doing it by hand

Hand-harvesting is still the standard in many other countries and you can see that done in many areas of Turkey, India, China, Africa, etc. In these places, the people who harvest are still picking cotton the way it was done in the US many decades ago.

Instead of trying to do your happy dance. realize that a cotton picker can be used to mean the person operating the equipment in todays world. It does not mean they are picking by hand. That is yor interpretation. So realize something else. Your not as smart as you think.

You see how you misinterpreted what was written in order for you get on that high horse.

You act like your the only one who knows that mechanical cotton pickers are used.

But I see you taken the words cotton picker in the wrong context because you wanted to sound important
Guess what cotton pickers are also the ones who operate the machinery.

Class dismissed.

Illegal immigrants on medicaid?... are we crazy?... I know an American couple who both have health issues... they are in their late 70's and the wife retired because she just can't keep working and they lost her company healthcare coverage ... they both worked and struggled to pay taxes their whole life and now they were told along with medicare they need to pony up an additional $1000 per month for a medigap plan to cover their meds and co pays...
But sneak across the border and you get free healthcare?...
Why???
If farm slaves need coverage let the mega rich big ag company cover them... even southern KKK slave owners provided health care for their slaves.... they didn't make the rest of the country pay for it....

It's a scam. The government is trying to save money.

Medicaid works like this: if you're dirt poor and don't work at all, you pay nothing.

If you work and make $25 an hour, your deductible becomes $1200 a month. That's about a quarter of your income. So basically "you take care of the little stuff", including pharmacy and dentist and whatever other trouble you get into.

This way the government saves a ton of money. I'm guessing they could get at least a third of the Medicaid recipients to work.

I don't see the problem. Illegals are not entitled to taxpayers anything
I assume you don't call refugees and asylum seekers, 'illegals'? Because under the supreme law of the land in the US, they are entitled to the rights listed below, at the least.

What rights do refugees have under the 1951 Convention?
The cornerstone of the 1951 Convention is the principle of non-refoulement contained in Article 33. According to this principle, a refugee should not be returned to a country where they face serious threats to their life or freedom.
Other rights contained in the 1951 Convention include:

  • The right not to be expelled, except under certain, strictly defined conditions (Article 32)
  • The right not to be punished for irregular entry into the territory of a contracting State (Article 31)
  • The right to non-discrimination (Articles 3 and 5)
  • The right to decent work (Articles 17 to 19 and 24)
  • The right to housing, land and property, including intellectual property (Articles 13, 14 and 21)
  • The right to education (Article 22)
  • The right to freedom of religion (Article 4)
  • The right to access to justice (Article 16)
  • The right to freedom of movement within the territory (Article 26 and Article 31 (2))
  • The right to be issued civil, identity and travel documents (Articles 12, 27 and 28)
  • The right to social protection (Articles 23 and 24 (2-4)).

The discussion is one of AMERICAN POLICY and farm labor.

Citing a job that is not done here, is .... misleading at best.

We dont need people working in fields. Leave those jobs unfilled or eliminate them altogether.

See if you can find a company that guarantees that to their employees. They need to repeal most of that shit. Those people have it better than 80% of our American workers. And as for the meaning of able bodied. That means you can walk and you're not retarded.
