We all know anyone past 70 should not hold any important political office

I just got off the phone with an old Navy buddy. He is a state senator in Alabama and is 74 years old. The state is lucky to have him as he is a brilliant individual and a very strong Republican.

We allow politicians of any age to regulate education, even those which their own apparently did not stay with them or was never obtained in the first place!

A whopping 8 out of 10 support age caps for Congress. I'm surprised by this frankly. I thought it would be majority but 80% in this atmosphere is like 100% in others.

While both ideas are hypothetical — neither is being seriously considered by Congress — support for each cuts across many backgrounds and party lines. The poll found that 78% of Democrats support both age caps and term limits. Eighty-three percent of Republicans backed maximum age limits, and nearly 9 in 10 supported term limits.

As for term limits; I'm a firm "no" on that. For one thing, if you have a really good, effective lawmaker...why would you want to arbitrarily have to get rid of her or him? We had a good mayor in Houston who was term limited out of office. Since he left, the city's debt has exploded (not all the fault of his successors), layoffs and furloughs have happened, etc...

We have elections on the regular. That is how you limit someone's term. Now if you want to set it at 20 years...I'll be happy to entertain that.
