The American Flat Track motorcycle racing series will be at Ventura Raceway May 6th. The Ventura track is a 1/5th mile short track with banked turns. So far, most of the top pro riders have signed up. Our local pro, #98 Kayl Kolkman still hasn't committed, but I hope to see him and his Dad, Bill, at the track.

There are some issues with our hometown track. The privately owned track is located on CA State property (Ventura County fairgrounds) and the owner is up against developers. Who knows what will become of Larry Naylor, the owner. He may retire and give in to the bloodsuckers after all he's done for racing fans in our town. There was a town hall meeting 2 weeks ago and the meeting consisted of mostly race fans advocating for keeping our beloved track in place.

Yesterday the race was packed with fans. The gates opened at 3pm and people were trying to get in past 6pm.
Our local pro, Kayle Kolkman, was the fastest in free practice on his Yamaha MT-07. Dallas Daniels won the main event on his Yamaha.
I was told all the local rooms were booked solid. Harleys were everywhere. Events like MC racing are good for the economy, and hopefully the city and fairgrounds planners get their heads out of their butts and take notice.
