Zone1 Accuracy Of The Bible

Archaeology Confirms 53 people mentioned in the Bible
The Bible is mainly a theological work written by many men over a thousand or so years. That doesn't mean none of it's history is fact, nor does it mean all of it's history is fact.

The Exodus: Fact or Fiction?

The Smithsonian's Statement on the Bible

“On the other hand, much of the Bible, in particular the historical books of the old testament, are as accurate historical documents as any that we have from antiquity and are in fact more accurate than many of the Egyptian, Mesopotamian, or Greek histories. These Biblical records can be and are used as are other ancient documents in archeological work. For the most part, historical events described took place and the peoples cited really existed. “

It is very good

Clever Clerics

Very dishonest. Just because a self-financed German archeologist discovered in 1873 that Troy had actually existed doesn't mean that all the supernatural parts of the Iliad are true.

This is nonsense from someone who clearly does not want to believe.

For instance: just the nonsense about the "rewriting and rewriting and rewriting" is laughable...

Israel and Judea had different stories that were cobbled together during the reign of King Omri. That's why you have those peculiar doublets. Remember, there were lots and lots of Nestorian Christians by the 4th century.. everyone didn't agree.

I fully agree! There's so much that people don't see at first glance. One of the things that I think is amazing is all the foreshadowing and 'types' throughout the Old Testament that point to Jesus. And of course those were written more than 800 years before Jesus' birth.

And this will probably sound crazy to nonbelievers, but I love how the bible is alive and active... because God speaks to us through His word. So sometimes when you read it, a particular verse will stand out on the page... like its being highlighted, and that particular verse will just speak straight to you, in a way that's hard to describe, but I'm sure you know what I mean. :)

There's nothing in the Old Testament about Jesus.. not in Isaiah or Hosea or even the writings about Hezekiah. Christians have borrowed from them and changed the meaning sometimes in the middle of a sentence.

Surprisingly and increasingly accurate on places and events as archaeologists regularly demonstrate .

Very supportive of other worldly visitations and supervision , particularly the Garden of Eden narrative .

But DYOR because just gut feelings or rigid world view points are hardly the stuff of research and scholarship .

A book which teaches that a woman got pregnant without having sex and that a man rose from the dead is probably not the first place I would look to find historical accuracy...
In today's science book, men can have babies

I'll take the Bible for $200 Alex.
