All current studies show that the vast majority of young people are NOT having sex. Hookup culture has been over and DOA. Only skuzzbuckets do that anymore. (So I have been told)


And the loneliness epidemic continues to radically warp and damage young people.

Yes, all adults and especially young adults must receive some form of affectionate touches from others to be stable mentally. Even autistic adults need the touches.

And it doesn't have to be sexual in nature. Simple embraces of greeting or encouraging slaps or fist bumps....those have mostly stopped too.

Just part of the human condition.

Sounds like dehumanization. I don't believe this is desirable at all. People need to be social animals ,if they are not they are less human and more prone to failure and disilluslionment. Love and hope will not have any value.

Since my arrival on this forum, I have said hundreds of times that I morally supported overturning Roe v. Wade. But I also said doing so would have no impact on the number of abortions in America.

Since the Dobbs decision, my prediction has been born out, no pun intended. In fact, the number of abortions has increased since the Dobbs decision. The pro-life movement won the battle, but has lost the war.

Perhaps this will finally, finally, finally bring the pro-life extremists to their senses and start supporting measures which will actually reduce the number of abortions. In other words, we need to focus on contraception education.

Half of all abortions are the result of no form of contraception being used during intercourse which led to the unwanted pregnancy.

Half.

Another fifth are the result of the improper or inconsistent use of birth control.

Imagine the impact if we properly directed our energy at the actual solution to the abortion problem.

It's all about pragmatism over the irrational. We have let the extremists dominate the narrative with the end result of tens of millions of preventable abortions.

The most recent data from the Society for Family Planning’s #WeCount project show that the average monthly abortion volume during the first half of 2025 was higher than the monthly average in 2024. From January to June 2025, there have been more than 590,000 abortions compared to 1.14 million abortions in all of 2024 and 1.06 million abortions in 2023. For most of the decade prior to the Dobbs ruling, there was a steady decline in abortion rates nationally, with a slight uptick in the years just before the ruling.

In many cases yes. But I believe there is a growing population of young people who are becoming ruggedly independent who are happy solo. They are doing well. They aren't less human they're just doing what they want. Commendable.
