NAPLES, Utah — A man in Utah was charged Friday with attempted homicide in the beating of a pregnant teenager who police say asked for the pummeling in an effort to force her to miscarry her 6-month-old fetus.

"I haven't decided who's more at fault," Mark Watkins, police chief of Naples, 130 miles east of Salt Lake City, said. "She was just as cold as the assailant — we're not going to treat her as a victim."

Thomas said Harrison is expected to appear in court Tuesday and faces one to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Harrison pummeled the girl's abdomen in an effort to cause a miscarriage, Watkins said.

"Her intention was, in fact, to abort the child — to terminate the pregnancy," he said.

The fetus survived, but doctors won't know for certain what injuries it may have sustained until it is born.

Actually, you do realize that those who want an abortion have to get counseling first, the doctors would have done a check to see if she was in the right frame of mind, and if not, they would have been able to prevent this tragedy from happening. So yeah, if it was more regulated then ones like this would be less common, and abortion itself would be less common.

I LOVE the death penalty and don't think we use it enough.

Abortion clinics don't "just abort the babies" either, you really need to learn more about the subject before condemning it. As I stated earlier, they counsel them a lot before they are allowed to abort, if they are deemed unstable they are not allowed to. The thing is, they are adding in all the expenses up until the actual death sentence, that's why they are getting this outrageous cost. Firing squad, nothing cheaper than a dozen bullets. Hanging, rope of any type is cheap, but I would prefer nylon for most of them, watch them squirm, that would deter a TON of crime. Death Row costs too much to maintain because they give them everything there, it's like the Fed Pen, only shorter life.
