A while back I started a thread asking the question, "when do the resignations begin?"

I looked for it but couldn't find it. Perhaps it was naive to think many people would quit given the time and effort P 2025 put in to find unwavering loyalists to serve under Don. But I'm still astonished at the lack of high profile people in the trump government refusing to go along with the immoral, illegal, unconstitutional actions it has taken.

Then I saw this. It was encouraging and disturbing at the same time.

Two-thirds of the DOJ unit defending Trump policies in court have quit

WASHINGTON, July 14 (Reuters) - The U.S. Justice Department unit charged with defending against legal challenges to signature Trump administration policies - such as restricting birthright citizenship and slashing funding to Harvard University - has lost nearly two-thirds of its staff, according to a list seen by Reuters.
Sixty-nine of the roughly 110 lawyers in the Federal Programs Branch have voluntarily left the unit since President Donald Trump's election in November or have announced plans to leave, according to the list compiled by former Justice Department lawyers and reviewed by Reuters.

Basically, there are two ways to interpret this turn of events. One, the lawyers who resigned (in all likelihood ones who were employed by the DoJ pre-trump) could not in good conscience defend trump policies and maintain any degree personal integrity or fidelity to the Constitution. Two, good riddance to those deep state traitors who refused to do as they were told.

Those disparate views are representative of the divide between the two sides we find ourselves dealing with every day. And while I agree no organization can function efficiently with insubordinate employees refusing to obey instructions, I submit the problem isn't the disobedience but rather the instructions. Ethical attorneys with an allegiance to the rule of law are exactly the kind of people we want working for us. Their absence will make the country weaker, not better. As will the absence of the other members of the FBI and DoJ fired in a purge of officials who obeyed instructions to investigate criminals. One of whom happens to be the prez.

Yes , your pocket money providers are fast disappearing .
The new prisons await you and your ilk
The Traitors .

Any "illegal" policies would be stopped by the courts. Stop making excuses for unpopular democrat policies.
At a 19% approval rating democrats like you are preaching to the walls, not the voters.

They are over 30% now as the GOP falls to the low thirties, and Trump is at 37%.

It's all up in the air.

Not surprising that the leftist lawyers would rather quit than carry the ball for Republican policies.

I'm sure there are many lawyers who would be glad to take their place.

No there are not. The ONLY people who will work for Trump, are other criminals who are just like him. Honest, moral people won't carry out his illegal and unConstitutional orders. They won't be deporting people to El Salvador, without due process.
Trump invented "lawfare" and using law suits to torment and break those who he perceives as his enemies. Over 4000 law suits BEFORE he became President - many of them for frivolous reasons. Like his law suits against Rosie O'Donnell or Bill Maher.

DOJ lawyers won't investigate Trump's enemies for political purposes, and they won't break the law for him.

Most lawyers believe in the law and the US Constitution. It's WHY they became lawyers in the first place. The reason why all authoritarians come after the lawyers FIRST is because lawyers are the ones who both know and truly believe in the law.

Yes, there are crooked lawyers, just as there are crooks in all professions. And then you have those who study the law, so they can abuse it, or twist it to their own purposes. Trump is one of those guys. He used the law to stiff contractors, and punish his opponents.

TRUMP WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A $100 MILLION FRAUD TRIAL - BROUGHT BY TWO STATES, WHICH HE WAS LOSING, WHEN HE WAS ELECTED PRESIDENT. 7 BANKRUPTCIES, AND AMERICAN BANKS STILL WON'T LEND HIM MONEY.

The criminal Trump is recruiting people who are willing to become criminals.

Witness Bondi, Blanche, Leavitt, Navarro, etc.

Yeah, one of the many troubling elements of this ugly period.

I saw quite a few staffers from his first season say they stayed because either (a) they thought they might be able to mitigate some of the madness, and/or (b) if they left they might be replaced by a True Believer.

A vast majority of these people (across all government strata) know what Trump is, and they know what is happening. So yeah, I'd guess you're right. They will not be a part of this. It's nice to know that at least some of these people are looking in the mirror.

"Deep State Traitor" places priority on party and Leader far more than law and the Constitution.

MAGAts in government are perfect examples.

TO many people bitten by the WINNING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT Thing.
Instead of WORKING together TOWARDS DOING BETTER, for the WHOLE COUNTRY

I think that what you're trying to say is that when it comes to dems, the Borg Collective sticks together and hoodwinks the American people about Biden's mental health.

They don't want to work for the Man/Child. He is a criminal in the WH.

Gee, wrong again. I'm saying Dotard's team did a tremendous job identifying people who are on board with authoritarian rule and violations of law.

Mark this post down.

After America wakes up and elects a Dem in 28, he will start complaining to high about executive power and the deep state.

Not exactly the kind of en masse resignations that would normally occur during a completely lawless regime like this one.

Federal prosecutor tasked with investigating Trump adversary Letitia James resigns under pressure

The federal prosecutor in charge of pursuing mortgage fraud allegations against New York Attorney General Letitia James resigned Friday after President Donald Trump said he no longer wanted him to serve in the position.

Erik S. Siebert, the acting U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia, announced he was stepping down in an email to colleagues that was obtained by NBC News.

"This evening, I submitted my resignation as Interim US Attorney for EDVA. For the last eight months, I have had the pleasure of leading the finest and most exceptional of DOJ employees, who care deeply about our nation and our EDVA community," he wrote, referring to the Eastern District of Virginia.

Trump on Friday unleashed an attack on Siebert, who was tasked with pursuing mortgage fraud charges against James, a longtime Trump foe.

“I want him out,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office when asked if he wanted Siebert to be fired.

The resignation was preemptive, anticipating being fired for a failure to charge Letisha James with a crime she did not commit.
......................................................................................................................................
When asked if he would fire Mr. Siebert, Mr. Trump responded, “Yeah, I want him out.”

Ms. James, he told reporters, was “very guilty of something.”

Mr. Trump later disputed that Mr. Siebert had resigned, saying in a late-night social media post, “He didn’t quit, I fired him!”

Mr. Trump’s comments came after a high-stakes internal debate raged on Friday over the fate of Mr. Siebert — with Mr. Trump’s own appointees at the Justice Department and key Republicans on Capitol Hill arguing to retain the veteran prosecutor.

The episode was consistent with Mr. Trump’s threats to pursue the law enforcement officials who investigated him, an apparent challenge to the fundamental principle enshrined in the Justice Department’s rulebook of investigating crimes rather than targeting out-of-favor individuals to uncover potential wrongdoing.

Two of the people who defended Seibert were reportedly the blonde sock puppet known as Pam and her #2. The man who was dispatched to FL to negotiate Ghislaine Maxwell's move to a country club "prison" in return for flattering comments about the 26 times accused sexual molester he works for.

Will there be more resignations as there were in response to Emil Bove's corruption?

Why the resignation of 7 DOJ lawyers in the Eric Adams case matters

We shall see.

I think that what you're trying to say is that when it comes to dems, the Borg Collective sticks together and hoodwinks the American people about Biden's mental health.
Any thoughts on Seibert's resignation? It appears even trusted lackeys like Bondi and Blanche couldn't walk Dotard off the ledge.

It will be interesting to see who is willing to take Seibert's place knowing the choice is prosecute James when the evidence does not prove she committed a crime or be fired.

All you have are lies. Boasberg's illegal order was "quashed" by real judges

Appeals court panel quashes Judge Boasberg’s contempt proceedings over Alien Enemies Act deportations

So you have ZERO ILLEGALITIES

Fifth Circuit Rules Trump’s Use of Alien Enemies Act Is Illegal

In W.M.M. v. Trump, the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled that President Trump’s invocation of the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 (AEA) as a tool to deport Venezuelans is illegal. While multiple federal district courts have issued similar rulings, as have individual concurring opinions by judges on two other circuit courts, this is the first full-blown appellate court decision on the subject. It is therefore an important precedent. There is a lengthy 130-page dissenting opinion by Judge Andrew Oldham. But its serious flaws merely confirm the weaknesses of the government’s position.

The case you cited had to do with holding trump officials in contempt. Not the legality of the deportations.

A divided federal appeals court panel has thrown out U.S. District Judge James Boasberg’s bid to pursue criminal contempt for Trump administration officials he says defied his orders in March by sending 130 Venezuelan men to a prison in El Salvador.

The ruling can be appealed further. If it remains in place, it appears to sharply diminish — but not completely rule out — the possibility that lawyers or other officials in the administration could face contempt charges over their conduct during the high-profile deportation showdown.

In a different social media post later on Saturday, Mr. Trump defended Ms. Bondi, saying she was doing a “GREAT job,” but that she needed a “tough prosecutor” in the Eastern District of Virginia, where Erik S. Siebert, was abruptly forced from his post atop the U.S. attorney’s office on Friday. Mr. Trump said he would nominate Lindsey Halligan, a special assistant to the president who was on his personal legal team, to fill the role.

Ms. Halligan, who spent much of her career as an insurance lawyer, has never been a prosecutor.

Mr. Siebert’s exit deepened troubling questions that have arisen in recent months about the politicization of the Justice Department’s supposedly self-governing satellite offices.

But it also raised a blunter and more immediate issue: Which of the nation’s U.S. attorneys might be next?

No AG with any self respect would stand for this.

The irony being the orange piece of shit is demanding Bondi do what he falsely accused Garland of doing.

I submit there’s no such thing as a good, ethical attorney but there ARE insubordinate ***** who refuse to their jobs. The same with judges, as we’ve seen for the last eight months with this administration.

Right now Trump is still trying to at least modestly follow the rules on how to make the necessary fixes here in America. If the system continues to get in his way, I don’t think it’s too much longer until he does away with the entire system; and I for one am completely and totally fine with that.

That is why I found the article to be disturbing. The more good people leave government service the larger the opportunity for trump to further corrupt the government with loyalist hacks in servitude to him........not the rule of law.

The task of the next prez to re-staff government agencies with people loyal to the country will be monumental in its scope.
'Good people' may just be bad for the job. Better if they leave.

Only if the next president is a Republican. Today's Democrats are only loyal to their Marxist, racist, and foreign agenda. I foresee lots of tears in your future as your silly agenda is rejected again and again.
