A Travesty of Justice.

Daunte Wright could have avoided it all ... Because you know, that's what he was supposed to do ...
And there is no fucking "maybe" about that at all ... End of story ... At least for Duante Wright.

And Kim Potter is in prison, and if she doesn't get shanked by a fellow inmate, she'll be unhireable for the rest of her life.
End of story for her.

And Duante Wright is dead ... Could have avoided it all for everyone involved ... No "if's" about it.
The only story in the entire tragedy ... Because Duante Wright damn sure isn't getting a sequel ... The End.

This also could have been avoided if Kim Potter didn't pull him over for a "Driving While Black" offense.
If she hadn't escalated the situation.
And if she wasn't so fucking incompetent that she reached for her gun instead of her taser.

The story is nothing but a laundry list of very poor choices by Duante Wright.
Poor choices he more than had enough time to evaluate ... Handle in the proper manner ... And avoid it all.
There are no other questions to it ... He had the opportunity ... To avoid any situation that would require anyone else to do anything.

Instead ... Duante Wright ruined the lives of others ... And it cost him his own life ... That's a fact and not speculation.

Duante Wright isn't the one who should know better.

Duante Wright knew better ... From the beginning to the end.
Duante Wright knew he got a traffic violation ... Knew he didn't pay it ... Knew there was a bench warrant out for his arrest ...
Knew that if he failed to register his vehicle properly his tags would expire ... Knew that if an officer ran his tags the warrant would show up ...
Knew that if he cooperated and didn't continue to make very poor choices ... He may spend some time in the lock-up, but could have avoided everything else.

No excuses required ... No one else had to do anything other than Duante Wright ... And his continued failure ...
Ruined the lives of others and cost him his own life ... That's all there is to it ... None of it had to happen.

Idk, but back in the day, cops were not allowed to shoot unarmed fleeing suspects. Things seemed better then. :dunno:
.

Yep ... Law Enforcement where I live doesn't really have a problem with shooting unarmed criminals.
Of course, we elect the Sheriff and they are not appointed ... The Deputies have excellent training and support ...
And it also wouldn't do much good for a suspect to flee ... Because the Deputies already know all the suspect's family and friends ... And where to find them.

There have been instances where criminals and deputies were shot and killed while serving a warrant ... Not many, but some.
Altogether, things could work out better.

Here they have grabbing them up without bloodshed down to a science. Holy shit, I have seen it in action.

They come from everywhere, grab and go all within 2 minutes, and 2 minutes is being generous.

Back in the day when a fight would break out in a bar the bartenders would quickly gang-tackle one of the participants and rush him out of the building. He and the other party would then be banned from the bar for a period of time. As a result, there were few fights in those bars.

Oh ... I still give them hell ... Asking them if they are going to roll the SWAT team, Urban Combat Vehicle and Helicopter ...
To help round up someone's loose cows ... :auiqs.jpg:

Edit:
The times when it has ended badly here ... Law Enforcement just didn't anticipate it was going to be what it ended up being ... Their mistake.

One was when two deputies were just serving a summons to appear in court over unpaid child support.
They weren't even going to arrest the guy ... He just wasn't having any of it ... And started shooting when they got out of their vehicles.

Well, first, a lot of vehicle tags were allowed to expire because they weren't renewing them due to Covid.
Second, minor traffic violations are not worth shooting someone over.

Third the warrant was for a failure to appear on a gun possession charge. Again, petty issue that should have never escalated to a lethal use of force.

Unless you were black, Hispanic or poor.

Doesn't matter ... Duante Wright had the time to take care of things.
An expired license tag isn't even a primary stop in many jurisdictions ... But if you run the plates and the owner has a bench warrant ...
Then you'll stop them.

The traffic violations, failures to comply, and laundry list of poor choices ... Are not fucking black, hispanic, or poor.
Duante Wright screwed up ... Kept Screwing up ... Ruined the lives of others ... And lost his own life.
That's a fact ... And no excuse you try to make will ever change that.

Duante Wright was the cause of it all ... Not Covid ... :auiqs.jpg:

Nope. Kim Potter's lack of judgement is the problem here.

Duante Wright's absolute and endearing lack of any even remotely appropriate judgement ...
Resulted in everything ... Ruined the lives of others ... And cost him his life.
