I'm watching TV one night around midnight, and suddenly there's a knocking at the window, with a face peering in.
Reacting quickly, I ... went outside and directed the drunken teenager to the to the house he was looking for.
Thanks to the conservatives here, I now realize how wrong that was, and that I need to apologize for not wasting him.
Jeeze that was dangerous !!!
NEVER go outside at night.
NEVER answer the door.
NEVER !!!
That happened to me when I moved into this house after evicting some speed freaks. I just happened to decide to spend the night for the first time spontaneously as it had been a long day. Didn't even have electricity yet, didn't know anybody.
So there's a knock on the door in the dark, and I have no idea who it could be. I open the door and --- nobody there? I look down, and there's a little girl in a witch costume talkin' 'bout "Trick or Treat".
Oh yeah, completely forgot --- it was October 31st.
Too bad I didn't blast her into the world of flying brooms --- I would have been justified according to the Almighty Gun paranoiacs on the basis that she "might have been a threat" ---- in my imagination.
Now she'll just have to live out a happy productive life. Damn. Opportunity lost.
That little girl is now about the age of Dylan Francisco. Maybe she still has a chance.
"There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices, to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy; and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children, and the children yet unborn. And the pity of it is, that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone." --- Rod Serling
