2. Reid's choice works, Thune fine tuned it to do them in groups, otherwise no one gets confirmed.
3. We need 51 votes for all temporary votes, CRs, appropriations, confirmations, etc. but not for major laws, like a new balanced budget requirement, or new immigration laws, or new voting laws, etc.

The "both sides" ism is exactly what Dems were hoping for, and they have clearly coordinated that message with the media.

No doubt, they told themselves that Thune would simply go nuclear, giving them a forever talking whining point.
