A Price For Socialism

It has been proven in time and time again. That Socialism doesn't work.

But what do they know? (Other than promoting Socialism as if it was the best thing since sliced bread.)
/—-/ Ever notice the people who impose socialism on others are the biggest proponents but not the ones who have to live under it?
some people retire from the military. applied socialism is how the military operates.
My old man retired from the army then did twenty five more years as a civil servant training fellows in the army...

Neither does Capitalism in its pure form.

So, competition in its form doesn't work either?

"The four factors are entrepreneurship, capital goods, natural resources, and labor. The owners of capital goods, natural resources, and entrepreneurship exercise control through companies. The individual owns his or her labor."

I believe that true Capitalism works in order for companies (like small businesses) to compete with others. (I was just naming one reason. Of course, there are numerous.)
True capitalism only works in Nature. Not the nurture of Government.

I'm adamantly opposed to socialism, but this argument has always seemed really weak to me. For every Venezuela there's a Sweden. And million different reasons why it might work in one locale, but not another. Reasons that have nothing to do with economic ideology.
China.....their form of socialism seems to operate..

Maybe the "competition" is too stiff for them to deal with, I don't know. Lol
Anarcho-Capitalism doesn't work at all; socialism works to the extent of implementation like Any form of Government.

Neither does Capitalism in its pure form. You end up with a pay to play government some weird sharecropping fuedal state.

Want to argue awhile about the 80/20 or 79/21 split that works the best?
Unlike your post the previous poster gave an example [proof really] of socialism not working, it is certainly working in America, give us all the proof you can think of where capitalism is not/has not worked/working
Government is socialism. Nurturing Capitalism is what Government is for.

It operates. But it is the kind of society we'd want?

Undeniably, unfortunately true. Go check out their GDP advantage over us.

It is socialism with some capitalism mixed in, some kind of xx%/xx% split. Ours is a split also.

Do note, in some ways this is too simple. We need both socialism/capitalism on the left right and an authoritarian/libertarian up/down chart to plot this correctly.

They're running crony capitalism for the most part - but much heavier on the 'crony' than ours. They don't really have corporations there that aren't securely controlled by the government. That's the biggest difference. But small to mid-sized private entrepreneurship is allowed, as long as you pay off the right people, etc...

By rewarding ingenuity and innovation, the market maximizes economic growth and individual prosperity while providing a variety of goods for consumers."

"Socialism ends depression and recession by rationally and democratically planning the economy on the basis of meeting human needs. Poor and working people will determine what is produced under what conditions—not the Walton family."

I agree that it would be nice if we don't have to go through a depression or a recession. But it is necessary at times, I believe, in order for that to happen is not "steal" the necessities from others.

Yet, squirrels know how to save for winter and don't have a central bank to bail them out.

I don't disagree.

Also I've never really analyzed our split but lets say we have a 80/20 split here in favor of capitalism. It generally seems to work. Broke capitalists in America generally aren't out kidnapping kids for ransom as a means to wealth.

You have to be out of your mind...The big boys own the big toys and have the big accounts they make sure you stay in your place..The only instances where they can't control is new ideology, but the newcomers quickly learn how to manipulate and enslave just like the big boys have learned...

It has been proven time and time again that democratic socialism is the most prosperous, successful and humane form of government.

It provides the most freedom to the people, to pursue their education, maintain their health and to reach their creative and productive potential.

All of the countries in the top 10 of economic freedom, liveability, personal freedom, longevity, education and overall levels of contentment of their peoples, are social democracies. The USA is well down the list of liveability.

You idiots keep pointing out Venezuela as THE one and only potential outcome for a socialist country. NONE of Venezuela’s problems relate to socialism. They relate to see-sawing back and forth between left and right wing economies, deeply rooted corruption and incompetence, combined with an oil based economy when oil prices collapse.

Yep. It's right up there with fascism. That's why it's so resilient. Centralized, authoritarian control over people works great if you're in charge. If you're not, and you have your own ideas that don't jibe with the state's grand plan for society? Well... that's a different story.

This mindset why I'm so opposed to political leaders being judged on the "performance" of the nation's economy under their watch. If GDP is the only thing we give a shit about, we could bring slavery back and make a killing. But, you know, "humane" slavery. They'll have free healthcare!

Another bulkshit notion from the someone who has never lived in a socialist country. Democratic socialism is simply Capitalism with a strong social safety net.

Socialism puts people first. Americans care more about cheap goods than people.
