A political disconnect over healthcare.

Everyone needs healthcare available. At some point every american needs it. Im not buying i to this.

At some point yes, but all the time? I was told that I had to be on meds forever by my doctor. He lied, I quit them years ago and am doing just fine.

We are told that if we are our own doctor we have a fool for a doctor and a fool for a patient. I believe that if you aren't your own doctor first you are a fool. The irony is that your doctor also treats you like a fool.

Republicans are healthier than Democrats, therefore have a different attitude toward the healthcare/health insurance issue.

The GOP is trying to cave without admitting they were wrong. Now they are acting like all those who are losing subsidies would really just get them in a HSA they could spend on insurance or treatment and that has been their non-existent plan all along.

We have a similar "non-existent plan" for keeping fall leaves from fertilizing our lakes. People sign up for email notices two days prior to an expected rain event. They will then clear the leaves from the gutter in front of their property. This will reduce the nutrient flow into the lakes by 80 percent, according to the agency in charge.

They then proceed to announce that they have reduced the nutrient flow into the lakes by 80 percent.

The problem is that no one actually removes the leaves from the gutters in front of their homes. No one gives a shit about the lakes.

The "Health Care Crisis" is just another Democrat invention to stir up its gullible base.

True. There is a health crisis but not a health care crisis. All health care does is get you back on your feet until the next time you need health care. Health really isn't involved else you wouldn't need 'health' care.

Unless certain laws are changed someone would have to have a health insurance plan that is compatible to open an HSA.

It's pretty much stirred up the pubs that have gone through the sign up process in the past week. I know that for a fact.

Health laws would violate the right to be treated for illness at someone else's expense.

What does this have to do with a qualifying HSA?
HSA's would indicate a willingness to help pay for your own healthcare. But, how would it work? HSA's are not health insurance, just savings accounts with tax benefits.

You purchase a high deductible health insurance plan then open an HSA at a bank and contribute money to your HSA which btw is tax deductible for the year you make contributions.

After opening the HSA the bank gives you a debit card and when you see a provider not only do you show your health insurance card you also use your debit card to pay for services until the deductible is met and then the insurance kicks in. Therefore the reason you also show health insurance card is so the provider files a claim and the insurance company knows when your deductible is met.

Sounds great, but how many people can actually afford to do this?

Part of their nonexistent plan seems to include allowing people on obamacare to have HSAs and pay premiums out of the account tax free. That was one of the things I read earlier this week but no longer have a link to.

Well, I just saw Cassady and Scott are drawing up a bill for people with high premiums to set up flexible spending accounts and the gov putting money into that account. Stupid plan this late in the game.

Well, if you had an HSA in the past you could pay premiums out of that account tax free. They're throwing shit up there that already exists, unless the government is going to find that HSA.

If the gov funds any of these accounts then it's just socialism. Might as well go to Medicare for all.

Nope, not all have the money to fund these accounts and I've had quite of few clients that have been on an HSA compatible high deductible plan for years (that have money) but have never funded an HSA.

BTW all bronze plans on the federal marketplace for 2026 are HSA compatible but people usually only purchase the bronze as they are cheaper. They are pretty shitty plans in my opinion but would suffice for some major health problems.

The main thing is, insurance companies need money. Lots and lots of money.

More now that reinsurance between insurance sectors is no longer advantageous as all sectors are experiencing high claims and payouts, therefor premiums in all sectors must go up substantially.
