My dad was in the 1st Cav when the division deployed to Vietnam. He was a tracked vehicle mechanic. By the time he got to Vietnam he was an infantryman. He participated in the Battle of Ia Drang and was with the battalion that got ambushed at LZ Albany. Then, in the end, we gave it all up. He was pissed off about all that for the rest of his life, but he never called anyone a fascist.

I wouldn't show my military assets publicly. This is what banana republic despots do. Mostly to intimidate their own people.

I don't see a problem with it. If you are proud of your nation and support your military, it would be nice to see an annual or semi-annual military parade, besides, you're not showing anything classified, only men and women in uniform, with their marching bands, some military vehicles and a couple of fly overs.
I think the best time for it would actually be on the fourth of July.
