Kick them when they're down is one type of foreign policy.

Do you really care what kind of government they elect?

When Trump put sanctions on Venezuela we started buying oil from Russia.

I'll just be willing to bet that most of the Venezuelans who come here aren't going to support the DNC Criminal Syndicate, they won't have anywhere else to flee to if the country gets flushed down the commie drain like the shithole they've fled.

Once the bed wetters figure it out they're going to demand a militarized border complete with land mines, snipers and artillery. Like what they built in East Berlin to keep their slaves from escaping.

I'm not so sure

Just like the cultist Jim Jones, who was also a Marxist, led his congregations into South America to drink cool aid, I would wager that even though Marxism has destroyed their very lives, they still think it could work only if it were done "correctly" for the first time in human history.

Massive sanctions imposed on them by the 1st world

Actually the Communists in Venezuela confiscated all of the oil industry's assets and drove those companies out. Since they had no source for spare parts, or ways to get that much oil refined or sold, it was sort of a stupid move. Oil is only worth money if you can process it into a salable form and them sell it.

Second hand info but I understand the authorities there are opening the prisons/jails and "strongly suggesting" that the convicts make their way here.

Maybe that accounts for all those single men we are seeing.

Sure, that's part of it. Along with massive, massive sanctions meant to do exactly what they're doing to Venezuela.

Just between the years 2017 and 19 US sanctions killed 40,000 Venezuelans.

More than 40,000 people have died in Venezuela since 2017 as a result of U.S. sanctions. That’s the conclusion of a new report by the Center for Economic and Policy Research and the economist Jeffrey Sachs. The report examines how U.S. sanctions have reduced the availability of food and medicine in Venezuela and increased disease and mortality. Jeffrey Sachs said, “American sanctions are deliberately aiming to wreck Venezuela’s economy and thereby lead to regime change. It’s a fruitless, heartless, illegal, and failed policy, causing grave harm to the Venezuelan people.”
