Yea, cuz if there was a law against guns, criminals wouldn't have guns. Works beautifully in Mexico!
It certainly works in places like Japan, and Britain where gun violence its almost nonexsistant.
And it's a disaster in Mexico. But let's look at your examples. Not only did crime, including gun crime SKYROCKET after England banned firearms, their violent crime rate is higher than than US. So, sure, firearms are more likely to be used in crime in the US, but you're much more likely to be a victim of crime in the UK. Not surprising considering no one there can properly defend themselves. That's quite a victory...
When we contrast per capita homicide rates with per capita firearm ownership rates between western countries, the data shows zero correlation between the availability of guns and the overall homicide rate. Yes, we have more firearms, but that does not correlate to more murders or violent crime. For all our guns, the US barely makes the top 100 in countries with the worst murder rates per capita.
Japan certainly is not a gun oriented culture. Yet, their murder rate is almost 1 per 100,000, while in the US, there are about 3.2 murders per 100,000 people each year by weapons other than firearms. This means that even if firearms in the U.S. could be eliminated, the U.S. would still have three times the murder rate of the Japanese. So, you can argue we are a more violent country that Japan, but you can't blame it on firearms.
Of course, not all is sunshine and rainbows in Japan. JapanÂ’s murder rate may be low, its suicide rate is over 20 per 100,000 people. Combined, Japanese are being murdered and committing suicide at a rate of about 21 per 100,000. In the U.S., our combined murder and suicide rate is also about 21!
In order for a gun ban to be effective in the US it would have to be enforced with overwhelming force from the National Guard or Military as this country is absolutely flooded with guns, and many people idolize there guns almost like pagan gods. Any gun ban in the US that is not enforced by heavy, and aggressive National Guard or Military presence is not going be very effective in the US.
Yea, good luck with that. The Supreme Court has ruled. It's an individual right. You're not taking anything from the People. That you would support such action suggests you are ignorant to the history of what can happen to a disarmed populace.
