Not really. The new Senate isn't sworn in until January. The nominee will be appointed during the lame duck session.
The only parliamentary procedure that can stop it is if the House brings impeachment charges before the appointment.
If the Democrats win big in November, they can repeal the Judiciary Act of 1869, an use regular order to change the make up of the court. While this would seem extraordinary, it would be quite normal, and well within the Constitutional powers granted Congress.
What would be extreme politically, is if cases are immediately brought before the new court looking to overturn many of the decisions that Liberals have disagreed with.
