A funny thing happened on the way to MAGA.

Compromise created our Constitution. Everybody had skin in the game. That's the smart way to do things.

The only reason not to collaborate and compromise is if a person is lousy at it or afraid of it. If that's the case, they should find something else to do, and let the adults back in the room to do what they need to do.
Going back to the way trump conducted himself in running his biz the overarching goal has always been to dominate who he sees as his opponents. In the current context he sees his opponents as half of America. Seeking consensus is the furthest thing from his mind. He wants to control.

Don’t be surprised if a bigger issue arrives that Trump will totally fuck up.

It’s early
If RFK's approach to the measles outbreak is any indication we're in even bigger trouble than people currently realize.

Then the tariffs happened. Then they didn't. Then they did. Now, who knows?
President Donald Trump is considering exemptions for automakers from some tariffs announced by his administration, the White House confirmed Wednesday to CNBC’s Eamon Javers.

The confirmation follows a Financial Times report that Trump is planning to exempt auto parts from tariffs on imports from China that Trump imposed to counter fentanyl production as well as levies on steel and aluminum.

The exemption would be separate from 25% tariffs on imported vehicles as well as 25% tariffs on imported auto parts that is scheduled to take effect by May 3, the FT reported.

Businesses want stability. trump gives them inconsistency leading to uncertainty.

I recently saw an interview with a guy who worked with him in NY, and what he said certainly rang true based on what his former staff and cabinet has said.

He said Trump knows one thing, real estate, and one way to do it, bullying and threats. He is completely ignorant outside of those two specific things.

We appreciate you are a novice Troll Bot but that does not excuse this rambling litany of nonsense .

Methinks you are like a shot and wounded animal --- making a lot of noise but going nowhere .

Run out of useful and worthwhile Topics methinks.

Predictable reply. They certainly have no interest in working with someone who is doing what he's doing. Which is pretty much the point. Rather than being a petulant, lawless, unhinged would be autocrat he could have proposed a moderate agenda in recognition of the diverse desires of all Americans. But he gave in to his malevolent impulses instead, driving a divisive wedge between extreme MAGAists and everyone else.
So, IOW, If only Trump had listened to, acquiesced to, and appointed all Democrats to form his administration, then maybe, just maybe you'd try?

Fuck you, you lost....Now you're gonna eat shit for the better part of four more years, you arrogant POS....

Where'd you see it? Who was being interviewed? Who was doing the interviewing? What channel was it on?

I call bull shit...

It didn't have to be this way. trump could have built on the momentum on the border created by Biden's EO making the qualifications for asylum protection much more stringent. Despite the lies (open borders) and exaggerations (an invasion) of the problem, the public wanted to see a tougher approach to illegal immigration. Then Abrego Garcia happened.

It didn't have to be this way. trump could have taken debt reduction seriously by reaching across the aisle to engage with Dems on entitlement program reform and a reduction in the defense budget. The only programs with spending large enough to make real headway. Then had someone address reduced spending on other programs in a meticulous, considered way. But DOGE happened instead.

It didn't have to be this way. He could have named qualified nominees to staff his admin with expertise in the agencies they would lead. People intent on making those agencies work competently, and professionally, for all Americans. Then RFK, Hegseth, Bondi, Gabbard, Patel, etc., happened.

It didn't have to be this way. trump could have put his grievances aside and concentrated on improving life for everyone in the country. Claiming he would fix inflation on day one was just a ridiculous campaign promise that was always going to be impossible to fulfill. But he could have made a show of it, at least pretending to care. Then the tariffs happened. Then they didn't. Then they did. Now, who knows?

The opportunity for genuine success was there. He squandered it. Instead focusing on retribution, abject cruelty, and a dystopian view of the world. Resulting in ineptitude, chaos, rampant illegality, alienation, with constantly large and small protests all over the nation. trump's actions all being in the pursuit of absolute power while remaking America in ways the public is rejecting. What a waste.

High quality nominees experienced in their field tend not to want to work for Trump though I will admit that McMahon doesn't seem to be doing a bad job unraveling the clusterfuck Cardona left at the Department of Education to be cleaned up.

That attitude comes thru so clearly with the tariff debacle. The idea he wants a "fair deal" goes against every fiber of his being. He wants other countries to come begging for mercy. So far, nada.

Trump has made of lot of campaign promises which he never intended to fulfill. He just tells the rubes what they want to hear, and they are stupid enough to bleev him, and never hold him accountable when he does not even make an attempt to follow through.

Trump's cult BEGS to be lied to.

But there is one thing Trump has never campaigned on. One promise he has never made.

Trump has never promised to cut spending. As Trump has achieved record spending in his first term, and will break his own record in his second, he knows not even the cult would let such a promise pass, although they are stupid enough to bleev DOGE will make a difference.

You see, the cult has never once complained when a GOP admin runs up debt, no matter how much debt it is. They are struck deaf, dumb, and blind every time. Then they begin whining when Democrats overspend.

It's pathological.

Donald Trump exploits that willful hypocrisy to the maximum.

Because the goal was never MAGA. The goal was to stay out of prison and to get rich by using the office. What happens to the country is an after thought.

The premise is correct but the gist misses the mark, you started in the middle of the story when you could have made an actual and insightful point. the "funny thing that happened happened on the way to the forum" was the 2016 election which still has some folks laughing and others crying about it...but you are correct about one thing, "it didn't have to be this way", we could have run a legitimate candidate in 16, now look what you did.

Now you're gonna eat shit for the better part of four more years
In case you hadn't noticed, the country feels like its eating shit. That's why there are so many protests and why Dotard's poll number are sinking.

When do the dems reach across the aisle?

When do the dems put aside their grievances?

Usually, when dems are in power, it's them shoving things down everyone's throats.

You leftys want everyone to get along and share power and all that, until you take control, then you say things like "well, you should have had more people to show up and vote" and "elections have consequences". A.k.a."shut up and deal with it, we are in office".
