Going back to the way trump conducted himself in running his biz the overarching goal has always been to dominate who he sees as his opponents. In the current context he sees his opponents as half of America. Seeking consensus is the furthest thing from his mind. He wants to control.Compromise created our Constitution. Everybody had skin in the game. That's the smart way to do things.
The only reason not to collaborate and compromise is if a person is lousy at it or afraid of it. If that's the case, they should find something else to do, and let the adults back in the room to do what they need to do.
President Donald Trump is considering exemptions for automakers from some tariffs announced by his administration, the White House confirmed Wednesday to CNBC’s Eamon Javers. Then the tariffs happened. Then they didn't. Then they did. Now, who knows?
I recently saw an interview with a guy who worked with him in NY, and what he said certainly rang true based on what his former staff and cabinet has said.Going back to the way trump conducted himself in running his biz the overarching goal has always been to dominate who he sees as his opponents. So, IOW, If only Trump had listened to, acquiesced to, and appointed all Democrats to form his administration, then maybe, just maybe you'd try?Predictable reply. They certainly have no interest in working with someone who is doing what he's doing. Which is pretty much the point. Rather than being a petulant, lawless, unhinged would be autocrat he could have proposed a moderate agenda in recognition of the diverse desires of all Americans. But he gave in to his malevolent impulses instead, driving a divisive wedge between extreme MAGAists and everyone else.
Where'd you see it? Who was being interviewed? Who was doing the interviewing? What channel was it on?I recently saw an interview with a guy who worked with him in NY, and what he said certainly rang true based on what his former staff and cabinet has said.
He said Trump knows one thing, real estate, and one way to do it, bullying and threats. He is completely ignorant outside of those two specific things.

It didn't have to be this way. trump could have built on the momentum on the border created by Biden's EO making the qualifications for asylum protection much more stringent. Despite the lies (open borders) and exaggerations (an invasion) of the problem, the public wanted to see a tougher approach to illegal immigration. Then Abrego Garcia happened.
It didn't have to be this way. trump could have taken debt reduction seriously by reaching across the aisle to engage with Dems on entitlement program reform and a reduction in the defense budget. The only programs with spending large enough to make real headway. Then had someone address reduced spending on other programs in a meticulous, considered way. But DOGE happened instead.
It didn't have to be this way. He could have named qualified nominees to staff his admin with expertise in the agencies they would lead. People intent on making those agencies work competently, and professionally, for all Americans. Then RFK, Hegseth, Bondi, Gabbard, Patel, etc., happened.
‘An amateur person’: GOP Rep. Bacon says Hegseth should go
It didn't have to be this way. trump could have put his grievances aside and concentrated on improving life for everyone in the country. Claiming he would fix inflation on day one was just a ridiculous campaign promise that was always going to be impossible to fulfill. But he could have made a show of it, at least pretending to care. Then the tariffs happened. Then they didn't. Then they did. Now, who knows?
The opportunity for genuine success was there. He squandered it. Instead focusing on retribution, abject cruelty, and a dystopian view of the world. Resulting in ineptitude, chaos, rampant illegality, alienation, with constantly large and small protests all over the nation. trump's actions all being in the pursuit of absolute power while remaking America in ways the public is rejecting. What a waste.
That attitude comes thru so clearly with the tariff debacle. The idea he wants a "fair deal" goes against every fiber of his being. He wants other countries to come begging for mercy. So far, nada.I recently saw an interview with a guy who worked with him in NY, and what he said certainly rang true based on what his former staff and cabinet has said.

Trump has made of lot of campaign promises which he never intended to fulfill. He just tells the rubes what they want to hear, and they are stupid enough to bleev him, and never hold him accountable when he does not even make an attempt to follow through. For those who don't get the reference.......https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Funny_Thing_Happened_on_the_Way_to_the_Forum

Because the goal was never MAGA. The goal was to stay out of prison and to get rich by using the office. What happens to the country is an after thought.Trump has made of lot of campaign promises which he never intended to fulfill. A funny thing happened on the way to MAGA.

It is absolutely what you were saying....Whether you were using those exact words or not, the sentiment was clear....Your idiocy is irrepressible. That's not what I said.
Yes, Liberals feel that way....And I for one love it...Loser.In case you hadn't noticed, the country feels like its eating shit. That's why there are so many protests and why Dotard's poll number are sinking.
