A consideration of the Biden bid for another term

I'm just going down to Beauregard Street. I'm right on the Concho in deep red Texas and tamales or tacos is how we take our snack
You’re in Texas? That’s not a good place for a Democrat Socialist. You should move to California.

I start this thread in “politics” despite the fact that I might be expected to be setting something up for purposes only of snark. Obviously, I’m not a fan of our President. I rarely refer to him by his actual name. But in this thread (starting with the headline) I do. Why? Because I’m actually kind of serious about this question.

Even though I root against him, it does seem as though President Biden is running for re-election. Some wonder if he will prevail. Others wonder if he is, instead, just a kind of stalking horse at this juncture, because he is old and frail, etc., leading to the thinking that he is going to get pulled from the race. That is, he will drop out by his own choice or by the decision made by others (not necessarily the voters).

Consider this article:

That got me to thinking “I wonder what his fans and detractors imagine (now) is the likely outcome of his effort to win rhe renomination of his Party?”

My hunch is that he is going to be informed of “his” decision. He is going to be informed that he’s done. It’s over. Time to pass the torch.

I’m not asking for anybody to vote in a meaningless Board “poll.” I am only wondering what we all really think is likely.

I can’t imagine a Kamala Harris candidacy at this point. I dread a Newsome campaign. So, is Biden going to stay in the race, more or less by default? Or is he essentially just a figure-head of a candidate at this point?
I think the mounting evidence of his corruption and his rapidly advancing dementia are going to force their hand.

Depends on which race. If the primary is over and that candidate has won the nomination, I understand that the other person so nominated (the Veep nominee) becomes the candidate. If the primaries aren’t over, but their filing deadline has passed, I don’t know the answer to your question.
No, it doesn’t work like that. If the nominee drops out before the election, the Party leadership decides.

And that’s what the devious Dems might have in mind to prevent their own voters from voicing their opinion. Biden drops out at the assigned time, and then the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer pick. They might pick Michelle because the Dems are all about Black. Female., or if she doesn’t want it, perhaps Newsome to carry the destruction of America forward.

Then all they need to do is cheat to a win, and the Democrat Party has picked the next president, silencing the voice of 200 million voters.

I’d love to believe that. But we also need to consider the massive protection he gets (almost always) from our corrupt MSM.
I think they are starting to get messages that the gloves can start to come off. Some of them are mildly interested in cocaine being found in the WH.

I don’t think so.

I’d have to verify it, but if the convention has been held and the nomination has become official, I did read that the VP nominee becomes the Party nominee.

I’ll look it up and and report back.

OK….if Biden drops out AFTER he wins the nomination at the Convention, the 400 members of the Democrat National Committee vote for his replacement.

I guarantee it won’t be idiot Kamala. They will probably pick another black female - black females are the new “golden boy” - and Barack might talk her into it in the grounds that he would be the DeFacto president, and she would just be the figurehead, sort of like British royalty.

That is my greatest fear.

Most presidents make statements that are considered gaffes. Biden will keep the trend going. There is some concern about his age. Does his age makes his gaffes worse. Presidents who are younger have made gaffes. Presidents have tripped on those airplane stairs. Since the age of TV and video recordings is not going away, people just have to deal with it. They should just ban some of the media attention. Is it really that exciting to watch POTUS climbing those airplane stairs. Then he waves to the journalists. Then he thinks, why don't wave back.

Presidents have it rough.

Still Biden is running for office again. If he makes it then there is a possibility that we could have the first female president at some point in time.

They need to post on how many naps he takes. That will tell us if he is to old.

My present lethargy appreciates that. 👍
Remember the days that if you needed information, you’d have to walk 20 minutes to the library, go through that literature index (geez, I can’t remember what they called it), then go to the reference room and pull out various articles? Now THAT took energy!

I like AMAC, too.

I did that a lot in undergrad. There were some really cool indices. One I think was called “facts in five.” There was also a CIA index. It used to burn me up if I finally dug up a good source and the volume was either already checked out or the library didn’t have it at all.

Work. Yuck.
