And when we pulled out, Lon Nol and his people were quickly deposed. Really nothing to do with gun control and more to do with 'You fucking lost."

Ironcically, the Vietnamese were the good guys in this situation, as they invaded Cambodia to depose the crazies who were slaughtering their own people.

At a key moment in the movie (at 2:18:00), a judge (played by Burt Lancaster) who is on trial describes a dark time in the country's history:
