A 25-year-old black man was shot dead in Georgia while jogging, prompting online protests labeling the incident as racial profiling

Why was there a struggle over the shotgun?
Who gives a ****. What was the shotgun out there for when the man was jogging. Why were they following him? They ain't police.
From another source:

Greg McMichael saw it differently. He would later tell police he recognized Arbery, who was black, from surveillance video that captured a recent burglary in his neighborhood. McMichael, 64, grabbed his .357 Magnum, called out to his son, Travis, and jumped into his pick-up truck in pursuit of Arbery, 25.

They caught up to him a few blocks away and said Arbery became violent when confronted, according to a police report. Two shots were fired by Travis McMichael, 34. Arbery, clad in shorts and a T-shirt, died at the scene

Where are the videos? How would most folks react if 2 men come up on you with a 357 and a shot gun in hand.

A black man jogging in an affluent suburban Georgia neighborhood was shot dead by neighbors on February 23, who thought he was a robber, setting off online protests labeling the incident as racial profiling, The New York Times reported.

Ahmaud Arbery was jogging around Brunswick, Georgia, before he was killed in nearby Satilla Shores. Arbery ran by Gregory McMichael who called to his son Travis McMichael before grabbing their .357 magnum revolver and shotgun and followed Arbery in a truck, according to The Times.

"Stop, stop," they shouted at Mr. Arbery, according to The Times, "we want to talk to you."

Gregory McMichael told police he thought Arbery was the suspect in a string of break-ins. Arbery died after being shot twice in after "a struggle over the shotgun," according to The Times.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the elder McMichael, who is a former police officer, was the only source quoted in the police report and that led critics to suspect that "his influence played a role in authorities' decision not to bring charges."

"There's a lot of suspicion of law enforcement down here," Akeem Baker, a friend of Arbery told AJC.

Neither the father nor son have been charged with Arbery's killing.

So now you can't jog while black.

How is it that you can just grab your gun and chase someone down the block, kill them and then return home for dinner.

Oh that's right there is no more racism in the South anymore.

Yeah, "Ahmaud Arbery" sounds like such a Black Christian American name. He was spottin' steel.

Spot it in the daytime and steal it at night. Guess where I heard that? From a black man that knows about 200 more old-time gospel songs than your ass does (If still alive).

Try again, racebait. Why did he not turn on the afterburners and get the hell outta Dodge?
So, guilty until proven innocent....unless you’re white
Why is this a race thing?
You tell me, racetard
The black attacked the whites, i’m not sure how anybody sees anything wrong with this. We have the right to first amendment and we have a right to self-defense with a gun
Your first amendment right doesn’t excuse you from doing stupid shit that lead to somebody’s death. I sure as hell would fight for my life if two yahoos drove up on me pointing guns.
You would fight two guys pointing guns are you?
If I felt threatened and feared for my life? Absolutely.

Here’s the thing — don’t run up on somebody with a gun unless you have a very good reason. You don’t know how somebody is going to react.

They had a legal reason to stop and question him, according to state law.
No they didn't.

Georgia Code Title 17. Criminal Procedure § 17-4-60:

"A private person may arrest an offender if the offense is committed in his presence or within his immediate knowledge. If the offense is a felony and the offender is escaping or attempting to escape, a private person may arrest him upon reasonable and probable grounds of suspicion. "

Saying "Come here, I want to talk to you" to someone, isn't arresting them. They were withing their legal right until the jogger tried to disarm them, then it becomes a problem.

You don't think I'd shoot some fool who tried to disarm me?

What offense did he commit? He was jogging so why would he need to escape? There isn't one law that says you have a right to walk up on me with a gun.

I actually have to agree with this. There is a reason we have a police department and it is to avoid situations like this from happening.
That was still a option , until the black guy attacked them

He was was sentenced to five years’ probation as a first offender on charges of carrying a weapon on campus and several counts of obstructing a law enforcement officer. He was also convicted of probation violation in 2018 after he was charged with shoplifting, court documents show.

In the State of Georgia, carrying a weapon on campus is a felony, even for background checked concealed carry holders. It is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

In other words, the dead jogger's attempt to wrest a shotgun from one of the other men, made him a felon in possession of a firearm.
Wait. So, you’re saying that when the jogger got ahold of the gun, since he was convicted of a felony before, that made him a felon in possession of a firearm and therefore gave the shooter a legal right to kill him?

Holy shit. I’ve seen some fucked up reasoning for some fucked up things, but this takes the cake. You are one sick ************.

A felon can't be anywhere within the proximity of a firearm. He can't be in a house or a car where there's a firearm present, or even ammunition for that matter. A felon attempting to disarm a legal gun owner can be shot and killed. Anyone trying to disarm a legal gun owner could legally be shot and killed, if that gun owner felt his life or the lives of his family were in danger.

I've carried every day since 2011 and I'll tell your this, buddy: Unless you're a law-enforcement officer, you try to disarm me and you will be shot in the face. That's a promise.
No, this is bullshit. Now you're going int9o the realm of making up a fictional crime he was in the progress of committing so you can justify this killing. The only persons life that was in jeopardy was the jogger. He didn't follow anyone to seek confrontation and he's the one dead. I tell you what from now on, when you maggots go into one of your whining sessions about some blacks beating up whites, we'll start considering how their lives were in danger since a white person can decide to get in a vehicle, pursue an innocent person then make up a lie of how they fit a criminal description and kill them. Seems that we blacks have to act preemptively to stop this from happening,
So your saying anyone carrying a gun needs to be attacked? Are you out of your mind?

If I lived there for about a year I might be able to discern what the issues are.
But i don't.
I do know a Black man or Black woman can not jog at night in Uniondale, Hempstead or Roosevelt, NY...3 Black neighborhoods.
There are entire state full of all white towns we can't be caught driving at night in. Drop the white boy bullshit.
Works both ways

I'd be caught DEAD driving through most of Detroit. it's that way in most large cities where blacks are the majority.
That a lie. Whites live in Detroit.
In the nicer parts where the police patrol.
Whites live all over Detroit. But the thing is, whites get beaten, mugged, raped and robbed by other whites in white communities. In larger numbers than blacks do in ours. And it's funny how whites like you act all surprised and shit when some heinous crime happens in the white community. Maybe if you stopped being racists and concerned yourselves with your own community...
Black men make up 6% of the population, it’s a white country, of course you will see incidents. But blacks make up the majority of crime breakers.

Was Arbery the burglar who'd been hitting the neighborhood? Did the burglaries stop when he was killed?
Did they find any stolen property on him?
Do people in those neighborhoods say he WAS a regular jogger?
What was going on with the shotgun tussle? The article I could read (paywall on the other) says the guy was jogging, two Georgia white boys in a truck come after him shouting for him to stop. Would you, if you were a young black guy in Georgia? I'd think twice....
So how'd we get from him jogging to him wrestling for the shotgun? Guess he must have stopped?
Deanna's right. Too much unknown.
Maybe Arbery did nothing but go for a daily jog and happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Or maybe he was the burglar, cased the joint on his run to a nearby neighborhood where he could get away with it easier.

Either way, an ex-cop and his son didn't have any business doing that. Call the dispatcher back and say HEY I just spotted a guy running at ... give address. They probably went looking for him. Let the cops handle it. It's not a possum hunt.

So since he was black he probably was there casing the joint, unfuckingbelievable.
NOT "since he was black." All the crooks around here are white. Sometimes there's good stuff laying around at construction sites. You think because he was black he COULDN'T have been the burglar?

Not enough details yet.....

My initial reaction is....why didn't the inferior Negro comply with his superiors?

Itll go thru the justice system like everything else.

I care as much about this guy as you care about every white person assaulted by violent Africans

Update - sort of..,. I think.,. Haven't read the whole thread..

Wow, that's as clear as a lovebug on a 70 mph windshield!
One of the guys involved used to work for the DA office in GA.
That article..is ok for that it gives a smiiidgen more info.

Even if Arbery was the burglar, even if he was scoping out the construction site to look for goodies, I can't believe the people looking out the window who call the cops because someone is running down the sidewalk. Or this ex-Dirty Harry and his son who thought it would be a nice distraction to go chase the guy around with a Magnum 357 and a shotgun. What the ****? Now THAT was because he was black. If they saw a white guy running down the sidewalk, they'd say "exercise."

Sometimes this country makes me sick.

You know, it wouldn't even cross my mind to just enter someone's home, OCCUPIED OR UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

Why do you think thas not a problem?

What if you saw a black man jogging around in your neighborhood hood late at night, looking all around?

I'd be thinking: "Hmm, summin' kinda funny 'round heanh."
Same if it was a white guy.

Oldlady would be freaking out, that's what.

When was the last time you saw a black people in real life, OldLady?

:auiqs.jpg:

I wouldn't go chasing him down the street with a gun...might run into that gang with the badges.

Your reasoning is beyond disgusting, and I guarantee you it wouldn’t hold up in a court of law where I’m from. Maybe down in shithole Georgia, but not around here.

If you run up on somebody with a gun, you better be prepared to use it. Gun or not, somebody pulls that shit on me, and I’m fighting and/or stabbing them.

Apparently he was prepared to use it dumass and did. And, what kind of a moron runs up on someone with an unloaded gun, besides a democrat?

So a black was stealing a shotgun and got killed? Ok then.
Well if you wanna go that deep, he was trying to strongarm rob the man of his shotgun.
Liar
Article says he was fighting over a shotgun, you're the liar, traitor.
Yeah I’d fight over a gun too if I were jogging, minding my own business, and some asshole ran up pointing a gun at me. You stupid piece of trash.
