You hear a shot, you look for cover and find the source. You never were a soldier, laferia52. That is exactly what the police did in MN when the shooter engaged them. He then fled out the back way. Successfully.

I served in the US Regular Army. I was never in a combat zone. You are taught how to advance forward while under fire while a fellow soldier provides cover for you. they drill it into your head, NEVER CROSS THE LINE OF FIRE that your fellow soldier is providing for you. These agitators scattered like cockroaches looking for cover. the police did their job. nobody is criticizing the law enforcement officers.

The LEO at Columbine and Parkland did not run to the gun for sure. They let people be killed. They "hunkered down."

A 39-year-old man died Saturday after being shot during a large “No Kings” protest in downtown Salt Lake City, Salt Lake City Police Chief Brian Redd said Sunday.
Three people also believed to be part of the incident were taken into custody, one of whom, identified as 24-year-old Utah resident Arturo Gamboa, was shot as everything unfolded, according to Salt Lake police. He was transported to a hospital in serious condition.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting near 151 S. State shortly before 8 p.m. It took place as an estimated 10,000 people marched downtown to protest recent federal policy decisions."
