I would thought they already had retired the A-10 warthog airplane. It flies low and slow....and today we have helicopters and other jets that can do the same things as that aircraft.

The A-10 has no countermeasures against SAM or A2A or manpads. Nada....zilch.

But it does have lots of guns. From howitzers to machine guns....it does fire a LOT of munitions that can be reloaded from its own cargo hold.

I suppose the ships are full of military equipment. Let's hope that they are not allowed to go to The Black Sea.

Where are they evacuating? the Black sea not an option . This is a really bad sign for the Assad´s Alawite regime. The time left could be only be now a couple of weeks before it is finished. The Iranian Islamic /Putin imperial Regime will feel very isolated and be wondering if they are next...

The A-10 carries more munitions than any other close support aircraft. 1700 rounds of 30mm alone is a LOT and since it has a range of 800+miles it really goes 1200....and can hang around for a long time.

It also carries anti-tank munitions and other munitions under its wings.

The airframe is old and expensive. They have been discussing a cheaper alternative but up till now none has really come up to par with it. A-35s are the closest but they don't carry enough guns.

The A-10 can't see through weather but it can see at night. Perfect for desert fighting. Not so good for places like Ukraine or Russia.
