Sorry about the delay I was hoping that someone from your end of the market would take a crack at this.

Me, I write covered options and each qtr I buy an S&P put in case everything goes to hell. rather than try to call the market I would be inclined to do the same thing in the ETF field or write puts on the components and buy a put on the ETF they belong to.
