Mike, all that mayhem, Community violence and tragic human destruction requires many hours of investigation.

While detectives are putting in many hours trying identify and locate emotionally disturbed, homicidal, suicidal minded fellow citizens, they're also cashing in sizeable overtime checks and booking some decent, well deserved retirement money.

Though in some respects much of that over time can be viewed as blood money, in that it is acquired by having to witness and intimately deal with the aftermath of one needless human tragedy after another.
