Obviously, the answer must be either:

1. Joe NEEDED Hunter there.
2. Joe WANTED Hunter there.

Why would Joe need Hunter there? The only answer is the meeting there must INVOLVE him, either personally or logistically.

Why would Joe want Hunter there? Most likely reason is so that he can't be somewhere else, such as an alibi, unavailable, etc. It would make a good place for Joe and Hunter to spend time alone, to relax, talk, and get their stories straight on some deep laid plan.
