National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund Causes of Law Enforcement Deaths
48 shot and killed in 2014, 33 in 2013, 50 in 2012, 73 in 2011, 60 in 2010, 50 in 2009, 41 in 2008, 70 in 2007, 54 in 2006, 60 in 2005.
539 Police Officers were shot and killed in the line-of-duty in the last 10 years. That's more than 1 a week, but how many round-the-clock news stories were about them? Not one. Not one story about riots which ensued after some criminal murdered an officer.
But when ever some piece of shit gets killed right or wrongly by an officer it's all the country can talk about.
