If you see this nation an one entity/person and part of your body no longer works or were born with some limb not working, do you throw that part of your body away so that the rest of your body is happy?

I served this country, and I made my life economically stable, but the reality is that in the year 1980 and due to what the government did, I lost all my money the first time I made it. I was fortunate that I was good enough to raise myself up from the floor and get my economic life back to when I retired, I was able to live comfortably. Nonetheless, before that happened, I had already paid a lot of taxes to my nation as well as served it well. Had I not been able to pull myself out of the hole back then and my now being disabled, I would have expected my nation to help me survive, given all that I had given to this nation to begin with. I would want food stamps and welfare because I had earned that right.

You support Trump not doing that. You support Trump giving extra to all the limbs that work but cutting off the limbs that do not work well. If you cut of your left leg in order to give your right leg more strength, you would not be able to keep your balance and you would fall.

That is being selfish to the nth degree, as well as plain stupid because if this nation was only the rich and everyone else gone, this nation would go to hell in a short period of time.

As far as paying the troops but not the ones in need, you are actually causing more problems than fixing them (as far as defense is concerned), because those in need will not just go away, they will fight to survive, meaning that you will gain more enemies than otherwise, and those enemies will be within the country and not on the outside.

SNAP is fine for honest Americans, and no one is demanding it be defunded for them. (Well, Democrats are defunding it for their absurd ACA subsidy demands). Though I do believe more requirements are needed, like drug testing and if the person is a convicted drug dealer then it should disqualify them. The purpose of the contingency fund is for emergencies or other unusual circumstances. they should not be used to thwart the current will of congress.

Ten republican senators to sponsored a bill that would give snap funding during this shutdown. Democrats torpedoed it just like they torpedoed the clean continuing resolution.

So Congress has spoken. About spending which is its purview.
