This strikes me as closer to the truth; Democrats probably believe Trump will be easier to defeat than DeSantis, at least at the moment (Who knows by the time voting actually comes around), so want to give him as much press as possible so that he ends up the Republican nominee. No, they never cared about him being “a threat to democracy,” that was just the talking point when it looked like he could win/after he won in 2016. Yes, it backfired on them in 2016, but who knows in 2024?

It doesn't matter who wins the GOP primary... the left and its media will turn them into another Trump.... and our corrupt DOJ will go after that person just as hard as they went after Trump... see its illegal to disagree with democrats today....
