short stories by Kafka are often fascinating.I think everyone in my high school system had to read The Metamorphosis and other short stories which were very interesting. Same in college, we had a big text book full of excerpts and short stories.
I read Siddhartha about 30 years ago. I remember liking it but the details are fuzzy.

Steppenwolf by Hesse was the one I came so engrossed in I did not realize the Library was closed. The only light on was the one at my table and the front desk. The Librarian just said I didn't want to disturb you, you were so involved in it.![]()
