28 Republicans who think gay people are “groomers” just voted against a bill that would do more to help protect children against sexual abuse

Why not demand that we have single-subject legislation? Why run your corrupt mouth off when you don't ensure that the people who need programs can get them without playing three card monte?

You have yet to prove your claim that the bill was full of pork. Here's the link to the Act. Find the pork or shut the fuck up and stop calling people "corrupt" unless you can back it up.

I've made no claim other than to refute that the GOP members who voted against the bill did so because they thought it was full of pork.

That is a certainty.

The problem YOU and the OP have is that you claim that you know the motivation of utter strangers to you.

So, no, I don't need to prove anything. The fucking bill passed, so its a moot point.

Oh, but they need to get in their required daily allowance of terrified squealing and pearl clutching!

I don’t but because that is the knee jerk reaction that Republicans have to voting against common sense, it’s worth mentioning. In other words, they are going to say that regardless of whether or not pork is actually in it. Of course, Boebert hasn’t offered an explanation for her vote. Probably because she wants to help people forget her husband exposed his penis in a bowling alley. Republicans are so classy!
Now I know how The Lambada must have felt...

What is the secret to being able to speak Truthiness so entirely without concern for....you know, Them?

The bipartisan Respect for Child Survivors Act, a law that would aid victims of child sex abuse and their families, just passed the House in a 385-28 vote.

The bill was opposed by the following GOP Representatives: Andy Biggs and Paul Gosar (Ariz.); Dan Bishop and Virginia Foxx (NC); Lauren Boebert (Colo.), Mo Brooks and Barry Moore (Ala.); Louie Gohmert, Ronny Jackson, Troy Nehls, Chip Roy, and Michael Cloud (Texas); Andrew Clyde, Jody Hice, Austin Scott, and Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.); James Comer and Thomas Massie (Ky.); Rick Crawford (Ark.); Byron Donalds and John Rutherford (Fla.); Bob Good (Va.), Clay Higgins (La.), Tom McClintock (Calif.), Ralph Norman (SC), Scott Perry (Pa.), Matt Rosendale (Mont.), and Jeff Van Drew (NJ).

There's at least one child molester on that list. Probably more.

Any proposed legislation must meet three prerequisites before passage:
  1. Is it a good idea?
  2. Can we afford it?
  3. Is it Constitutional?
Even conceding #1 - a dubious proposition indeed - "we" have no money to spread around on feel-good nonsense because we already have a monumental, unprecedented national debt and are projecting a monstrous deficit. Further, as for #3, there is NOTHING in the U.S. Constitution that empowers the Congress to spend Federal tax dollars to protect child sex abuse victims (or anyone else, for that matter). Hence this bill fails two of the three essential tests.

How could anyone who has sworn to protect and defend the Constitution possibly vote for this silly bit of wasteful nonsense?

Seriously, that's a question for the board.

Did you read the bill?

What would this bill do to prevent child sex abuse?

The biggest bang for the buck at this time would be closing the border to human traffickers. Is that what this bill does?

“It’s full of pork!” those officials are likely saying.

Did you read it? No you didn’t. That’s just your knee jerk reaction to anything the GOP votes against.

Surprised? No. None of us should be.

Does it include paying drag queens in elementary schools?

You are the people that vote to support groomers.
