$22 Trillion Spent On Welfare Since Lbj

The average family in Hawaii receives $49,000 a year in welfare benefits.
Just wow! And the rolls have doubled since then. Sounds like there needs to be some major changes made, as there is nothing real to show for that $22 trillion spent on the declared war on poverty. That is 3 times more than defense has spent since the American Revolution..
The poor today have cell phones, a/c, cable tv, and a computer. 40% have wide screen hdtv's and internet service. None of what they receive is included in their total income.

Maybe they're not so poor anymore.
Considering the average family on welfare in DC receives benefits of $43,000 a year, you are probably right.

Because of the cost of living, the next highest is Alaska....again, cost of living increases payments. But you don't see blacks flocking to Alaska...or Hawaii...

Obviously, we need to make birth control and abortion expensive and hard to get, keep pay low and a lot less for women, end unions, give even more welfare to big business, let men get away with not paying child support, make it too expensive for the average person to get an education and/or job skill, give welfare tax breaks to big business for taking jobs to other countries, hire educated workers from other countries ...

That's just a partial list.

C'mon RWs, surely you can come up with more ideas.

Yeah, deport all illegal infiltrators and stop all legal immigration until income inequality falls back to 1960 levels.

People at the bottom aren’t well-off, but they’re better off than they once were. Among the official poor, half have computers, 43 percent have central air conditioning and 36 percent have dishwashers, report Meyer and Sullivan. These advances are especially impressive because the massive immigration of unskilled Hispanic workers inflated the ranks of the poor. From 1990 to 2007, the entire increase in official poverty was among Hispanics.
We were making progress on battling poverty. Then we expanded immigration. What's the point of a tide lifting all boats if we keep importing more poor people and loading them onto the boats and then sinking them.

Without importing poor Latin American peasants our poverty problem would look far better today.

Hey dirt bag, a higher percentage of women who owe child support don't pay anything then men who owe.

The Surprising Facts about Payments of Child Support

Amazing. And I bet your answer to almost all of that is to throw more money at the problem. That will solve everything, right? No mention there are programs already for increasing ones education or skill level. And last I heard, states had child support laws. Ever thought to make it easier for businesses to stay here? Because it's pretty obviouscwhat we are doing isn't working. Having one of the world's highest corporate tax rates has been running businesses helter skelter. And along with ith it jobs.

Where do you get your numbers? "$22 trillion spent on the declared war on poverty" sounds absurdly high. And if you take $330 billion as a rough average for yearly defense spending you get 16.5 trillion spent on defense since the LBJ era. A link to your source is needed to combat the impression your figures are imaginary.
