I have lived is Southern Arizona for over 40 years and have watched local news reporters interviewing ranchers, border patrol and illegal immigrants, and read the statements from Arizona Sheriffs. That's a sampling of how I know what I'm talking about.

I can see where people would be upset about high school kids because they're just plain stupid.
But that's a very small percentage of the deaths.
Most of the deaths occur in experienced, well worn, hardened users who make a general nuisance of themselves and parasites on society.

There is usually a victim family that has to front the bill for these assholes.... In effect pay for their habit by taking care of them, feeding them, sheltering them while they contribute nothing back except vomit and convulsions. It's a blessing when they overdose.

I'm sorry but I have a very hard time trying to have any sympathy for it. My poor sister-in-law who is an angel in the flesh had a drug addict son who tortured her relentlessly. He was miserable, mean and violent and constantly kept her bank account empty with his habit.

The entire family was mad at me when I basically kicked my heels on hearing of his overdose death. I couldn't hide it... I couldn't pretend to be sad. I was actually giddy!

I don't care.... My sister-in-law went through her grieving and is now living a 100% better life free from that asshole who is where he belongs forever.

The consumption and supply of Fentanyl are both huge problems. Cut the supply first and the addicts will look for less deadly drugs. That's where you start. Fixing our drug addicted society is a far more complex problem to solve.

That's understandable. But for everyone like that kid, there are innocent people who are in severe physical pain looking for a cheap pain killer and they end up dying from Fentanyl poisoning. There are many different faces to the mass Fentanyl poisoning that has been going on for years.

The consumption and supply of Fentanyl are both huge problems. Cut the supply first and the addicts will look for less deadly drugs. That's where you start. Fixing our drug addicted society is a far more complex problem to solve.

Makes sense, but cutting the supply is a bit of a pipe dream. You could probably cut 50% of the supply, and it would have little to no effect, since such a small amount goes such a long way.

I'm not saying we shouldn't make the effort, I am just saying that we should recognize the limits of that effort in solving the problem.
