2012 is a Referendum on George W. Bush

Whether you’re a liberal or a conservative, Elephant in the Room is a timely and important book premised on the idea that comprehending what went wrong in Washington during the Bush years is key to understanding what can be done to set the country right.
Indeed. In this case what can be done is keep Romney and his Bush Era fiscal policies out of the WH.

What an interesting concept. And it is true that the GOP would like to forget GWB even existed. He is NEVER mentioned in the Romney campaign at all.

Interesting and accurate.

And the right’s efforts to expunge Bush from republican political history is remarkable and telling.

What's "remarkable and telling" is that progressives are desperately trying to run against a man who hasn't been President for four years, instead of on the record of the Democrat who IS President and had super majorities in both the House and the Senate to pass his agenda.

You've GOT a Democrat sitting in the Oval Office. He's been there (when he wasn't doing fund raisers and playing golf of course) for four years. Why would you NEED to run against a guy who's back in Texas chopping brush and riding his mountain bike when YOUR guy is in office unless the guy you have in there is doing an unremarkable job?

They can't run on Obama's record, sucks too bad

So now here comes da Bush again

Doubt people will fall for it

If Romney would put PRyan in an "undisclosed location" or keeping him babbling at the Vichy Americans, govern from the center as he did in Mass., he'll be ok.

Ryan still would remain a heartbeat away from the Presidency. With that in mind, why should any sane person vote for Romney.

A better question? Why would anyone want Joe Biden a heartbeat away from the most important job on the planet? In case you haven't noticed, Old Rocks...Joe is one step away from drooling on himself most days. He was never the sharpest tool in the shed to begin with but now he's verging on full blown senility as well.

As usual, you don't know what you're talking about.

Why Obama Is Winning: 57% of Registered Voters Blame Bush and GOP for Economy

The registered voters in this poll are still holding George W. Bush and his party responsible for the economy. This means that Romney’s economic plan, which is to do what Bush did, is signalling to voters that he may very well make things worse if elected.

In short, Romney is failing to convince voters that the economy is Obama’s fault. The voters in this poll have not forgotten who was in office during the economic collapse, and Mitt Romney has not been able to convince them that he would do anything to make it better.

Pundits and pollsters have expressed confusion over why Obama has been able to lead Romney while hauling around such a sluggish economy. The answer is simply that voters aren’t blaming the president for the economy. They still view the economic mess as something that he inherited from George W. Bush. Romney’s attacks on Obama over the economy are falling flat because a majority of voters are rejecting his basic premise that Obama is to blame for the economy.

Voters see the economy going in the right direction, they agree with President Obama that it will get even better, and they are still holding George W. Bush and the Republican Party responsible for the economic collapse.

Sounds as though people made up their own minds, Steph. Not everyone needs to be told what to think. Like you do.

Nobody is running against Bush's record. The voters have not forgotten what a mess he made of this country. You can't blame anybody for that but him.

Barack Obama had Democratic majorities and trillions of dollars to play with, Rinata and in the space of four years for every job that he's created four people have either gone onto unemployment or food stamps. At what point does HE take responsibility for the worst economic recovery since the Great Depression? I don't think you'll EVER assign him responsibility for his agenda's results.

You are an absolute idiot. Where do you get your news from??? I get mine from many sources, but they are never acceptable to you and the rest of the right wing bat crap crazies. Is it because there is no news organization that has anything good to say about your horrible candidate??? I think so. Why do you people insist on blaming others for picking a loser like Mitt Romney???

Please answer the question.

New ebook Argues 2012 is a Referendum on George W. Bush

Every president since Gerald Ford has attended his party’s first convention after leaving office. Not George W. Bush. His name was barely mentioned in Tampa, or during the GOP primaries, or in any of thousands of Republican campaign ads aired so far this cycle.

Yet during this 2012 race the legacy of his administration is to Republicans like the proverbial elephant in the room, a presence too embarrassing to recognize but too overwhelming not to matter. In poll after poll, voters blame the poor economy not on Obama, but on Bush — and Bush’s policies are hard to distinguish from Romney’s. The Romney campaign has tried to make the race a referendum on Obama. It is shaping up, ironically, to be a referendum on Bush.

A new ebook, Elephant in the Room: Washington in the Bush Years, explores why, despite efforts to airbrush him out of today’s political conversation, the 43rd president remains central to it.

Whether you’re a liberal or a conservative, Elephant in the Room is a timely and important book premised on the idea that comprehending what went wrong in Washington during the Bush years is key to understanding what can be done to set the country right.

New ebook Argues 2012 is a Referendum on George W. Bush

For those of us who do not wish to read the 197 pages in this book, could you provide some of the highlights? I'm mainly interested in what the author describes as "what went wrong in Washington during the Bush years."

OMFG.

The libs are STILL hoping to run against Booooosh. Almost 4 years later, but STILL they keep on that one note symPHONY.

:lmao:

It's like an admission that they have not the slightest inclination to try to run on the almost unremitting record of FAIL from The ONE.

The fact that anyone actually believes that this election is a referendum on Bush goes to show what lengths some people are willing to go to lie to themselves.

You might as well have said that Bush doesn't love pie. That has about as much to do with the topic in my post as what you said. The post was not about Bush running for president as much as it's not about his eating habits!!!! Didn't mean to confuse you.
