This is my take, for what it's worth (very little, I suspect).

If this somehow gets approved in some form by Congress and signed by Trump, I think it will be the ultimate form of socialism. Talk about wealth redistribution!!! People will be paid massive sums to basically do nothing.

Even though I'm as liberal as they come, I personally think this is a terrible idea. The rate of saving has gone steadily up since the 2008 Great Recession. I think, even with 0% interest rates, people will just sit on the money or best-case scenario, pay off their high-interest debt.

Social security started paying out the year it was signed into law, that's the definition of a Ponzi scheme

Not true. deductions started in 1937 and benefits did not start until start until 1942, but were later moved to 1940. Your statement is dead wrong.
