Hello to all players, thousands in attendance, and millions reading and watching at home. 8 gladiators have entered the first ever USMB chess championship to enter into Mortal Kombat.
After a random generator selection, the bracket has been set, and the First Round is as follows: (USMB Name: "Chess.com name")

The Rules:
1. Contact your opponent through direct messaging to set up your first round game on Chess.com. You can create a game and invite your opponent, so identify who will set up the game and invite the other. There's no severe rush, but I'd like to get all the first round games within the next 2 days so we can get this poorly timed tournament over well before Xmas.
2. The timing is 15/10. 15 minutes with 10 seconds added per move.
3. This is single elimination, so whether you start black or white is up to chess.com's random generator.
4. Report your results in this thread, and for Christ's sake give some dramatic commentary of how it went while you're at it. Both sides ought to give a press conference statement.
Any other things I didn't think of feel free to bring up. A reminder of one of my favorite quotes: "Chess doesn't make sane people crazy, it keeps crazy people sane".
