Here is why the above is doubly important: Stalin demanded, and Roosevelt acquiesced, to no surrender by Germany....only 'unconditional surrender.'
The war would have been over some 3-5 earlier,with some 200,000 fewer American dead had he agreed to work with anti-Nazi Germans.

FDR refused, following Stalin's orders.
Yet he- and Truman- used the very same Germans post-war.

Thanks for the compliment, but you must realize that both of us, FDR and I had, and have, faults. FDR ,made numerous mistakes, as does any president, and the more active the president, and the longer he serves the more faults. In the end the historians since 1948 have agreed with me on FDR so I'm comfortable with that.

FDR ,made numerous mistakes, as does any president, and the more active the president, and the longer he serves the more faults. In the end the historians since 1948 have agreed with me on FDR so I'm comfortable with that.

It always boils down to the media. The democrat party was able to turn on a dime from segregationists to pretend friends of minorities because of the media. Old FDR was practically a corpse when he ran for his 4th term and the democrat party knew it and the media knew it but they kept it from Americans. Fawning feeble old FDR used to call Stalin "uncle Joe" and make jokes at the expense of Churchill. When little bean counter former senator Harry Truman and the democrats established HUAC the media immediately turned against communism and pretended that democrats hated communism. When democrats decided that communists weren't so bad the media turned again and blamed the whole anti-communist era on a single republican and called it "McCarthyism". Now the democrat party is once again courting socialism and the media is once again on board.
