I know you hope the bloodshed continues
Very sad
I hope Ukraine continues to stand up to Moscow.
I hope the United Ststescwill do its duty as “leader of the free world” and support them.
Both for the causes of freedom and self determination.
but also as our country’s role as leader of the western world.
But also for the major geopolitical victory it would be. For Russia to lose in Ukraine would be the end of its time as a superpower. It would set Russian ambitions back by a generation.
Trump has been a sock puppet to Putin and his oligarchs since well before he ever read for a president.
his public support for the Russian invasion and his actions to delay or deny aid to Ukraine suggest that he may well be shallow and stupid enough to take Putin’s side.
The Russians are net losers in this war.
It went wrong from the start. It wound up reinvigorating NATO, particularly after the U.S. stepped up.
NATO grew, the Russians lost their Western European gas markets, Chinese goods are on Russian shelves, Russia has taken horrible military losses and have little to show for it. Its currency is worthless and it is increasingly pressed for both recruits and equipment (hence North Korean troops). The Chinese are building railroads to take the minerals out of Siberia to feed their industries, and they and cannibalizing the feasting on cheap Russian oil.
A real President would see the chance to enhance western strength, counter China (which is canniblizing Russia) and insure stability.
War is certainly not required.
Ukraine is the rough equivalent of the Spanish Civil War. Contain Russia now, and stand astride the western alliance.
That’s what Churchill would have done.
