By making his claim of ending the war in 24 hours, Trump disses Zelensky by implying that he can force him to settle with Russia that quickly, or even scare him into settling before Trump takes office.

Now . . . if Zelensky holds out and doesn't settle with Russia until a week after Trump takes office, Zelensky can claim to have shown up the Big Orange Amerikanez and save face. Trump gets what he wants, which is to stop shipping so much money and equipment to Zelensky and be able to use that money to build a big beautiful wall.

If Zelensky isn't crazy, saving face is all he wants at this point, along with keeping enough of Ukraine to be able to hold his head up at the next World Conference of Dictators meeting.
