70's popular music was a wasteland. Everyone was coming down off their 60's high, most of the music was pretty bland, and disco was creeping into everything. I mostly listened to Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, and Jethro Tull, but the Allman Brothers and Skynyrd were pretty good.

I wouldn't knock disco so fast. Alot of great music came out of that era.

Sure, and Quaaludes too. There was a big bruhaha about two of Jimmy Carter's staff members snorting coke during a visit the NYC's Studio 54.

How Studio 54, Roy Cohn and cocaine could have rocked the Carter administration

The sexual promiscuity of the disco era also gave rise to the epidemic of AIDS and Hepatitis C. We never had that shit back in the 60's just the Clap and crotch crickets.
