Your flag is a cheap copy..

Here is the flag of the British East India company, created 1707.

Has exactly 13 stripes and is nearly identical.

The red ensign, used by many colonists in Englands american colonies, is also very similar to the american flag.

Whoever "designed" your flag didnt have much imagination.

50 stars for 50 states; 13 stripes for 13 colonies. Love it or hate it, our flag serves its purpose.

Personally, I am not a big fan of mixing such bright colors. Design wise, I prefer the Japanese flag and the old USSR flag.

I am not a big fan of germany's flag though. The colors turn me off.

Sorry - I'd reply with something more interesting but the new vitamins I've been taking have reduced my capacity to give-a-shit.

"Imagination" aside, we've taken that flag many more places than the British East India Company ever did. Matter of fact, I believe it was flying high while your army was taking its whipped asses back home.:dev3:

Not to mention the fact that the creator(s) of the American flag were also obviously paying homage to our British roots (a bit like the Aussie flag, wouldn't you say?)...the flag was not meant to be a "kiss off" to England, but rather an artistic representation of our nation - where it came from, what it represents, etc.

If you were trying to get a rise out of people, bloke, you chose a silly way to do it. We agree with you! Our flag does look a lot like the ones you posted...so what? LOL.

Anyway, welcome to the board despite your somewhat unusual start!

The originals are dead and the copy is the leader of the world. Hmmmmmm, yeah, I should be pissed.

Or Not

I wish we would of kept that coiled snake with "Don't Tread On Me" (Gadsden Flag) or the Culpeper Flag that also included "Liberty or Death".

Sure put Liberty or Death on money, just take off In God We Trust as Theodore Roosevelt wanted to.

As for the flag, of course it was influenced by British design, duh, many of the colonists here were of British descent and all had been British subjects.

oh my--something on your money offends you.

The flag is kind of dated, I think with modern printing techniques we could come up with something even better:

a quote from one of my favorite songs:
I really wanna care
I wanna give somethin'
Let me dig a little deeper...
Nope, still nothin'
My Give-a-Damn's busted.
